Great deal on a very good knife for the $$. 1095 carbon steel, properly tempered is excellent for this knife's purpose. I suggest removing the handles, strip the coating off the entire blade, and coating it with cold gun blue.

China made. How will you get all the dead hookers blood out of that finish? You'll have to throw the knife out when you empty your trunk.

Mora's are great little knives. Light, good steel. This one is bigger. It's more affordable than other knives in its class. Wouldn't trust it with my life but I'd take it camping or hiking.

Looks like the blade is chipping or breaking when people are batoning.

Lol @ all the one-star reviewers who bought a $20 knife to baton wood.

Use it within its design parameters, and you will be very happy with a Schrade.

Had one, sold it, along with my other Schrade. It has a hollow grind, making it weaker than a similar knife with a saber grind and given the knife's thickness it was intended to be strong. The secondary bevel is thick, crazy thick. So even with a hollow grind, it won't slice for ****. Expect to do a lot of work to make it cut like you want. Out of the box it's a partially sharpened prybar. Batoning wood is about all it's good for without quite a bit of work.

For $20 it IS a good deal. But don't expect more than $20 and look at it as a project if you know how to re profile the edge and add your own scales. Some people can turn these into decent knives with a fair bit of work.

A lot of the complaints of chipping are legitimate due to heat treat issues. A knife like this should be able to stand up to some abuse. We're not talking chopping through bricks here.
