I sent my application today, just wonder if I got a call from LASD, which mean my GC are accept ? And if I pass the interview and the IA ask me to do live scan, which mean my ccw most likely accept also ?

The interview is a good sign, but doesn't guarantee a CCW. Being told to go to LiveScan almost guarantees it, assuming everything is good in your background.

Since the loosening of the GC requirement has anyone who’s been granted an interview get denied after the interview?

Was wondering the same. Also curious what the denial rate for lack of GC has been, ever since AV began issuing.

I'm using TRB training. My wife and I prefer them because they train at FT3 which is our preferred indoor range. We know the staff there so it's a comfort thing.

Fairly expensive at $350 for a 16 hour course.

This is ridiculous. I took a livescan on 3/31 as well for having a delayed firearm and I am still ďin process.Ē The DOJ is purposely denying people the right to purchase firearms. I purchased one last year during the middle of the pandemic and had no issues.

I suggest every applicant check all the local to them approved trainers on the LASD list. Do personal comparisons by going to their websites, and only then, choosing what they feel best. I posted this list previously, but it got "poofed".

https://lasd.org/wp-content/uploads/...ERS_040921.pdf

Personally I found TRB to be LESS than honest in their representation on their site.

Both days are assuredly NOT REQUIRED. But since they can charge more, for the second 8 hrs. They do. Then blame it on LASD.

Hey sorry that was poor wording on my end. Course is $350 for the two days, 16 hour course.

What did you find that was less than honest on their website?

State law says sheriffs have to require at least 8 hours of training and no more than 16 hours. TRB is implying that LASD requires 16 hours, which isnít true as some trainers can provide the training in a full day. YMMV

In OC, if one covers the content in 8 hours or 12 hours, then thatís fine while still meeting the minimum 8 hours required by law.

You are probably fine to take training, if you want to save the money until told to take training, that would be a safer bet.

The safer bet is to take training after your pass the background check.

If you're confident you're going to pass, I would just take it.

They just can't tell you to take training, come back with a bad BGC and you go back to them and say "Hey you told me to get train and now I'm out $200"

They're just covering their asses, and we're telling you to get training now to speed up the process.

I just went through their website and they don't actually mention anything regarding hours.

Maybe it's just the way they run their courses, being two days - 16 full hours instead of the 8 hours.

It was most likely me being an idiot and saying 16 hours mistakenly.

I understand I could have taken a cheaper and quick course. But we like FT3 and I'm never opposed to more training.

Correct and nothing wrong with that. I agree, more training never hurts.

Although a bit pricey (here in OC some charge 200-250 for ~16-hour course).

As long as youíre happy with the training you received and convenient, then no worries.

Under firearms training

Bullet point. New Applicants must complete a training course lasting at least 8 hours but not exceeding16 hours.

Still waiting for the interview call, which I hope will come. $30 check deposited by LASD few days ago; submitted in early April. I'm assuming for applicants they judge not to get a CCW they don't even bother calling to schedule an interview? Not saying that's gonna happen in my case (light green GC), but I figure that is probably one of the main hurdles is getting an interview in the first place.

I sent in my application and they received the application on 4/15. They already cashed the money order. Does everyone get an interview or do they send out rejection letters to people who they feel don't have sufficient GC?

Today AV said they have 2400(if I remember correctly) applicants pending so bare with them guys n gals. I received mine not too long ago. I took my class with aegis authority and they were awesome. 3 nights 6pm-9pm on zoom and 1 day at the range which I was in and out. Have patience everyone. they are doing their best to process everything. Also, if you put self defense or 2nd amendment as your GC expect to be denied. You need to explain why you need it. Paint the picture. If you have supporting documentation bring that to the interview. Trust me, it helps.

Quote from their website, again.

Quote:

But they don't say it is them that requires it. The implication is that they are alluding to LASD and OCS "requiring" it.

By them requiring 16 hrs rather than the 8 hrs allowed. I find that disingenuous and deceptive.

And as far as my suggestion that members check all local trainers for THEIR requirements. Also from TRB as an example only;

Quote:
EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR ALL STUDENTS: (You may purchase holsters and gear items from us on the day of the course if necessary)

All firearms you wish to put on your CCW (You may NOT rent a firearm from the range if needed)
One holster for your primary firearm along with
NO Serpa holsters if youíre firearm does not have a manual safety
Magazine holster capable of holding at least two magazines
Three magazines for your primary firearm
If you have a revolver, please have at least one or two speed loaders as well.
Sturdy belt
150 rounds of ammunition for your primary firearm and 20 rounds for any additional firearms you wish to put on your CCW (NO STEEL CASED AMMO) You may purchase ammo at FT3.
Eye and ear protection
Note taking gear like notebook, pen etc.
Some trainers requirements far exceed actual LASD guideline, as evidence the underlined above.

So i sent my application and check exactly a month ago. Money hasn't left my account and no call yet. What's the "typical" response time some have encountered?

Edit: After posting, i read the comment above. Any other examples?

Has anyone with green or light green GC successfully get a CCW? (I just figured the color code btw)

I think my GC is yellow or red.

Did my training with Aegis. Well worth the money spent. It was convenient being on zoom and was extremely informative with respect to the level of responsibility a CCW permit holder has. Provided a lot of real world scenarios, how to handle situations post shoot, and very willing to answer the full spectrum of questions from the folks in my class.

This puts my "the watch commander at ELA probably trashed my application and never sent to hall of justice" thoughts somewhat at ease. Been waiting since 3/17 for a call. Mind if you share what station you dropped it off at?
