Sealing gun safe
I live fairly coastal and humidity is leading to rust. Should I put a seal on the doors and caulk the mounting holes? What should I use to seal the doors if so? I'm thinking about switching from desiccant to golden rods the continuous baking is getting old.

Though I'm not near the coast, I run both a desiccant and a rod.
I thought about sealing the doors but haven't. If I did, I'd use some adhesive backed closed cell foam tape

I live fairly close to the beach, gets damp here and drizzled today.
I use a goldenrod and about 3# of desiccant in 3 separate locations. Have not had a problem.

Consider going to a Golden Rod + Desiccant + BreakFree Collector. This 3-prong approach should help. For your frequently used guns, you might be able to swap out BreakFree CLP for the BreakFree Collector.

In your situation there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to rust protection. I would run BOTH a golden rod and desiccant. Also pickup a hygrometer...maybe one that has an external sensor that you can put in the safe and be able to monitor it without having to open the door. I'd probably also give your guns a VERY generous coat of Renaissance Wax before you put them in.
Initially I would also check the guns daily until I was certain I had a stable environment. Then a weekly check and perhaps a wipe down with a silicone cloth (depending on how much Ren wax you're using). And yes, I would try to seal your safe as best you can. Sorry, but I don't have any experience on that front.

For the op, as others said, I'd run a golden rod and the dessicant. |

My last house had a lot of humidity in the garage. I used a Remington dehumidifier in the safe. It worked fine. They sell a 2 pack at Costco for like $30 I think. Once a month I'd plug it in overnight and it would refresh itself.

This is what Costco had. Mine was exactly the same but said Remington on it. I think I got it at academy.

Yes.
That is what I use and a goldenrod. I sealed the door and put a bluetooth Hydrometer inside. Works real well. Got it down to 32% and that is about the lowest I can get it. I think I am robbing the sheetrocks moisture for fire insulating inside the safe. Oh well, It is better than nothing.

I have also heard good things about a low wattage bulb for keeping things dry.

Maybe sealing isn't the answer didn't think about sealing moisture in. Just picked up two of the eva-dry plug in units. The light bulb idea sound like a good two stage approach. I have desiccant in my safes but it's a pain putting them in the oven. I'm thinking I'll buy two more eva-dry's so I just have to swap them out that way I'm not plugging them in and forgetting till the next day and coverage is continuous.

Skip the golden rod, a simple light bulb in your safe will burn off any moisture in the air. Add a dimmer and you can run any wattage bulb. A home door fire seal will keep air from entering into the safe

Golden Rod is the way. I have it in the safe for last 10 years. They are cheaper than Eva-dry dehumidifiers and no maintenance. I think I paid $16 at midway. I see they have Lockdown Dehumidifier Rod for $14 with good rating.
Don't forget the hold in the back of your safe for this power cord.
