I also am still waiting for my permit. I received my "approved for training" on 12/18 and submitted my training completion certificate on 12/22. It's going to be a even longer process I think for me because "next" Saturday I pick up my new Glock 43x (my Glock 19 is just a tad too large) so I will need to have that added so I imagine that will be another waiting game to get that new permit.

If you get your new Glock before you are issued your permit you can request it be added by submitting your “ Modification Application - Firearm Safety Inspection”. Otherwise if CCW has been issued than you’ll need to go through the official modification application.

Oh ok good to go. There are some rumors that our permits should be ready by next week so if that holds out to be true I'd receive my permit literally days before I pick up my new Glock lol. All well....in either case I'm not worried about it.

No. I'm still await mine as well. Fortunately it kinda works in my favor since I pick up my new gun this week and am getting my training/certificate to add it on Friday...so hopefully I have time to add it to the CCW before picking up the permit.

Hmmm. That’s a little disappointing. I saw some people that got theirs fairly quickly in Solano. It’s been almost 4 months for me since my interview

Hahahaaaa 4 months, be thankful that’s all it is. It was taking close to a year from start to finish originally. They have cut the times way way down.

And it can take up to six weeks for renewals

Yeah I'm still waiting on mine also but I'm not even remotely disappointed. I've know so many people who didn't even get their approvals to train until after the six-month mark...so we are already better than the average. It's just best NOT to compare your process with someone else's because we dont know everyone's individual circumstances which may have contributed to he/her getting their permit faster.

I guess that’s my issue, I shouldn’t compare to others. I have a couple friends that total process start to finish was only 2-2.5 months. I’m sure the holidays slowed the process down too.

Yeah I understand. I thought the process was “first come first serve” but my friend who submitted his application a week after me got his approval to train AND this physical permit in hand in under 1.5 months, and here I am at almost the five month mark without mine. I know before December there was a huge push to get a bunch out, but coming into the new year I’m sure there are a lot of other priorities over the issuing of CCW.

I’m still waiting after submitting my completion of training on 12/29. Considering I completed the application early Nov, the process has been moving quite quickly.

Does Deputy Pinder process the licenses in batches?

It appeared that way when a bunch of us received the proceed to training on 18 December.

Now we are all in the same holding pattern. Has anyone contacted Deputy Pinder for a status?

I sent an email a few days ago but did not yet receive a response.

I know on 25 January 2020, there was an annual retiree firearms qualification day at the Art Koch Range and Training Facility in Fairfield, where approx. 30 retired officers went to re-qualify and update their concealed weapons permits. So this is just me taking a guess, but I imagine maybe the process for "civilian" permits is slightly delayed while they process these retired officers permits. Would make sense to me they would give them the priority...but again this is just a guess. I submitted my training completion certificate on 12/24 and have yet to receive any word when I can pick up my permit.

I sent an email to deputy Pinder back on 1/30 asking for a status update. I haven’t gotten a response back yet either.

FYI, I received my license back in November. I had to wait 2.5 months from the time I submitted my proof of training. They are really backed up. I was there for a few minutes picking my license up and saw at least 5 others doing the same.

The email and text to pick the license up comes early Monday morning and yes, it comes in batches.

Received notice about noon today, 2-18, that my application has been approved. Advanced to make final payment and pickup CCW permit. Notified after making final payment to contact Sheriff’s office to make arrangements for pickup. Awaiting response.

I too received the same email and phone call today, and I have arranged my pick-up for today at 3pm. Finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel.

So is it still common to be waiting for the Livescan results?
I interviewed on 12/12/19 and livescan on 12/13 and I"m still showing as awaiting on the Livescan results. It's been over 2 months, is that above average right now?

Very common. I’d say the average time between live scan and proceed to training (except for those who got really lucky late December/early January) is about 3-4 months. I just got my CCW last week and my live scan took slightly over 4 months to get back.

LiveScan is 3-part:
1. FBI background....24 hours
2. DOJ background ....24 hours
3. DOJ manual Firearms review....4,519 days (plus or minus)

Then, DOJ reports to your IA.

Eventually, (pending state holidays and vacation) your IA will get your report.

They must have batched a bunch of us together. I just got back from picking up my renewal. Table, chairs and cones outside. Not making you sign permit, just thumb print. Deputy Pinder has hand sanitizer for us and disinfectant spray to clean the table between customers.

Same laminated permit. No new restrictions printed on back.
