Default Coach Don Ziegler needs your help!!

To all you clay shooters!

Coach Don Ziegler, who has conducted the SoCal shotgun/skeet clinics for many years at Triple B Clays is no longer shooting due to health reasons. He is 86 after all, but has done so much to introduce new shooters to the clay sports - a good many of you that are probably reading this right now!

But he has about 900 skeet/trap targets on his key, and wonít be able to shoot them, especially with the pending changes at TBC.

I am reaching out to you in hopes that you and your buddies might be interested and able to help me to help coach Ziegler put his targets to good use.

So simply put: would you and your shooting buddies be interested in buying some (or all??!!) of Donís targets at member prices?

I have already confirmed that TBC will transfer them to other keys for Don.

Transfers would need to be in blocks of at least 150 targets in order to justify transfers to TBC.

Let's show Don how much we appreciate all he has done for the shotgun community in Southern California!

If interested, please text me at 909-855-4399 and give me your name and how many targets you'll take. I will compile a list and make arrangements with you for target transfers.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dave Nobile (trapperjohn)

So no one wants to show their appreciation for the decades that Don has given to the Shotgun sports community??

I was hoping at least some of the Ziegloids would step up.

Ok, I will take a block of 150 targets. Do they get transferred to my key?

Maybe we setup "Ziegloid Cup" skeet tournaments. I have plenty of targets in my key (200+?) but would take 150 if no one else besides shovelon partake.

Iím trying to find out from TBC if they can be converted to SC targets. So far, every time I call to ask, the Billie/Billy I need to talk to is either busy, or just left. Timing is everything apparently.

It might be, if you pay BBB the difference in price between skeet and sporting clays targets or accept less targets in trade.

There's no incentive for BBB to convert 25 skeet targets to 25 sporting clay targets, unless they want to do Don Z. a favor.....

It's a big win (money for nothing) for BBB to have keys expire with unused targets.

Also time is running out, Does not sound like it will be maintained well, And when they start removing machines less targets to shoot at.

They have done it for me before. It's not equal though. Can't remember the ratio.

I thought about this and I would think the sporting clay machines would be last since there are registered tournaments in January.

FWIW, when I did this before, the girl with the long black hair at the counter did it without checking as if it wasn't an issue at all. Again I can't remember the exact ratio, but it was something like 100 skeet for 70 sporting clay targets.

I am happy to report that yes - we can convert Donís targets to sporting clay targets. Obviously not one-to-one, and likely at a pretty attractive price to anyone that is interested. I will know the conversion price in a few days.

In the meantime, if you are interested in the targets for sporting clays, please text me and let me know how many youíd take.

Thanks to all who take targets.

I spent the afternoon at BBB shooting my key down to zero. When do we meet up for the transfer and shootout?

Got there at noon. Not a drop of rain. Was a bit humid and warm. 5 skeeters in all including myself. I set the delay for 6 seconds and practiced for the most part on a vacant field shooting doubles at all stations but 8. Practiced station 8 singles for quicker shots because I break them right before center stake. So I moved inward for high house and was breaking at a consistent 10:30 position.

All in all kind of sad experience. Won't be the same after the transition I am sure. Was looking for a senior membership that OakTree does not do. Not sure if the Sansei shoot will continue. I could surely imagine that some of the skeet fields will be turned into trap fields. The friendly atmosphere will surely evaporate as well I fear.

I will be there tomorrow shooting the last Sansei skeet shoot of the year. Rain or shine.

You are right it won't be the same, It might be better. I would think that they will want all the business they can get and that the Sansei shoot will continue.

I quit OakTree a year ago. They just wore me out. Hoping for the best but have diversified.

Hey guys, I would like to let everyone know we are planning to keep the Sansei Shoots going forward. Shovelon if you can get me more info regarding the Senior Membership I will be more than happy to set something up as I will be in charge of all of that!

We want to keep everything moving forward for the shooting community and make the necessary upgrades that the facility desperately needs.

As for Don's targets if there is anything left over after the transition I would love to help him out!

Awesome Ryan! I wish you well.

The Sansei shoots are a cherished event. They do a lot of good for the shooting community.

As far as the existing membership rates here is how it is being done up until now. The senior rate has been $100 per year for 65 and older.

Coach Z wanted me to relay his utmost gratitude to shovelon, hamajun, and fecalguns for relieving him of the targets that were remaining on his skeet key!

I also want to personally thank you guys for stepping up and making the target transfer as easy as it was. You guys are the best.

Don's retiring?

Wow, the end of an era, for sure!

My best to Don, and many thanks to those Zeigloids who don't take long vacations from Calguns. :-)

NO! Don is NOT retiring! We expect the SoCal Shotgun/Skeet clinics to resume once Triple B Clays changes hands on Feb. 1

At almost 86 years, Don just isnít shooting anymore, but still had a bunch of Skeet targets on his key. Like many, he needed to shoot the targets before January 31 or lose out. So we arranged for a few guys to take the targets.

Thank Ryan,

I don't see a lot of senior Triple B members posting here. So they may go unreachable. As far as I know when renewing they presented proof of senior status to Triple B and paid as usual.

Hope you figure something out for Seniors. The great majority are Vets.
