I just added 25 lbs of block ice and 5 lbs of dry ice for a deep freeze treatment. Then back out in the sun again early next week. I have warmed up to at least looking at a new one on sale from Orca or Bed Bath & Beyond($500-crap!). If I can’t get the smell out by December it’s going to moms in AZ for the coues deer hunt. Where it can Stay!!!

coffee beans should work and take the smell of gas out of your expensive cooler.

last year I went hunting and put all types of deer urine on the bottom and the top of my boats...STUPID MISTAKE. It was okay on the bottom, but the top was fabric. When I was packing up to leave I washed those boots 2 times and could not get the smell out. I put them in a couple garbage bags and brought them back to CA.

My wife was very upset with me and told me to toss them and buy more. I was stubbern. I washed them many times, I submerged them in kitty litter, left them outside, etc. Nothing worked. When they dried, they stunk up the place. I them washed them in ammonia, TA-DA! Amonia actually killed off the smell. I did that a couple times then washed them with no ammonia to get rid of that smell.

Happy to say, I wore those boots in CA this past hunting season. I did buy more boots, but to leave in AR. Thankfully the booths were really tough! after abusing them with many washes, they held up just fine.

For gas, I would use an something mechanics use. Something that penetrants gas/oil. Try ammonia... Finally let that thing air out for days. I hate smelly coolers. I wash my coolers and let air dry open. When storing, I leave the drain cap open so air can circulate. I just returned from AR and didn't wash the coolers all that well... I had to catch a flight, so I just left them open. I will see how that worked in a couple weeks,

I just learned of a way to remove skunk scent off the skunk for taxidermy. 1/4 cup of baking soda, one container of Hydrogen Peroxide and some dish soap. Mix and scrub with the solution. Update- After airing in the sun and freezing then airing some more I closed it for a couple days and gave it the sniff test. No Go! Off chemical odor still. I’ll post after I try the skunk wash. As of now it is still a $500 loss. I’ll give it a cola wash and sit also for good measure.

Food grade plastic isn't fuel resistant.
If straight simple green and Dawn don't get it out, sell it to someone with a bad sniffer.

I’m giving it the skunk scrub today. Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda and Dawn Soap.
Loved the bidding. LOL

I'm wondering if you could paint and then clear coat the inside of the cooler. Might block the smell. Seal it into the plastic.

It's true, ask bob Barker...

Skunk wash completed and left open a couple days to dry out. I’ve closed the cooler now for a few days before the next sniff test.
