Default Cartridges/Calibers other than .308 for LR-308 Pattern Rifles?

I have an extra M5 upper laying around that I was going to sell, but decided that rather than do that, I would satisfy my need to tinker by building another complete upper, in a caliber other than .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor (my other LR-308 pattern rifle).

What cartridges do you guys like, and why?

Sorry meant to expound, the 7mm-08 is a better round for hunting round than 65 CM, .338 because it hits like a hammer, .358 win because itís cool, good brush gun 250gr at 2500fps not to mention the 18 Wilson barrel is super light makes it one of my lightest AR10ís

I always thought a 7-08 would be perfect in a large frame AR. The ammo is pricey if you don’t reload though. If you wanted to make a more varmint style AR .243 would be awesome.

7-08 ammo isnít that bad price wise, a buck a round for PPU, itís the .338 and 358 that add up. .243 is on its way to my bench to be assembled. I threw my 65 CM barrel in the trash.

.243. Even Armalite sells their "AR-10" in it.

Fast, flat shooting, low recoil, more than enough for deer.

Wise choice, I have one, load your own. A box of 200gr Federal MSR ammo was $38.......oh yeah and run a adjustable gas block
