Default How to start an "empty gun" stage

Max is always innovating.

If I was young, in good shape, and talented, that's exactly what I'd do

I've practiced that a few times. Have not had the guts to try it in a match though.

Yep, it's a "go-to" technique for unloaded table/barrel starts with no stipulation for how the magazine needs to be placed (e.g., trigger guard centered on one x and first magazine on the other x).

Another one I've seen that can be helpful for guns without a magwell is to place the first mag under the rear of the gun (elevates the rear of the gun kind of like a slide racker to make establishing the grip a bit easier).

Again, it depends on the instructions.

Congrats to Max on the Open Division win (and with a slide-mounted dot, no less!)

Pretty slick. I have seen it at a local. Both times it went well for the shooter, but they were also running magwells in Open.

I think I will toss it into the dryfire routine to see how it works for me.

I did this once during a local match and everyone who already shot the stage cried like a bunch of babies.

The next time an unloaded stage start was part of the COF, the stage designer stated mags in a closed box.

Oh well, it worked once.
