Default Upcoming Match 4/19/2015 - Los Angeles

The Southern Cal Golden Bears (www.goldenbears.or) will be hosting our monthly match on Sunday April 19, 2015. Signups start at 0730 with the first round going down range at about 0815.

We're typically done by about 1000, and you can stay later for some extra trigger time after the club meeting. Cost is $12 for members and $17 for non-members. If you want to submit your scores to the NRA, you'll need to pay an extra $3.

This is a 100 yard "walk down" match where shooters will shoot Offhand, Sitting, and prone. Shooters walk down and change targets between the stages, and the targets simulate 200, 300, and 600 yard distances. Shooters are required to use centerfire .22 cal or larger rifles. Optics are permitted but not eligible for awards.

This is an NRA match, so we'll be awarding cash prizes for winners of each NRA classification (minimum of two shooters per class). To be eligible for the awards, shooters will need to shoot the 80 round course of fire and also shoot a service rifle. See below for some common questions:

We now have two loaner spotting scopes and stands. Let us know if you need one, and we'll reserve it for you on a first come basis.

What if I don't have a classification?
You'll be classified as a "Master - Unclassified", and you should consider having your scores submitted. You'll be that much closer to getting your classification card.

If I'm not classified, how long does it take to get classified?
You need to shoot a total of 120 record shots to be classified by the NRA, so you can get it done in two 80 round matches. Our next NRA approved match will be in April, and you can also attend a match at Burbank Rifle and Revolver Club, Ojai Valley Gun Club, or Santa Margarita Gun Club at Camp Pendleton

Do I have to shoot the 80 round course of fire?
No, you can shoot a 50 round course of fire, but you won't be eligible for the awards. You can still submit your scores to the NRA if you shoot the 50 format though.

Do I have to submit my scores to the NRA?
No, you're not required to submit your scores.

Do I have to be an NRA member to participate, compete for prizes, or submit my scores?
No, NRA membership is optional and encouraged.

What if I shoot an M1 Garand, do I shoot on the SR-1 target for all courses?
If you want to shoot for the class awards, you'll need to shoot the reduced 300 and 600 yard targets for rapid prone and slow prone.
