Regardless of where you do your training (you cant do it at Firing Line anymore anyway), its all the same. The shooting proficiency standards form is on the website: https://lapdonlinestrgeacc.blob.core...dards-form.pdf

I spoke with an employee at Firing Line about them being dropped from CCW list and was told they updated their certs for LAPD. It also looks like they go by as Apex Firearms Training and they have the same address listed as Firing Line.

I strongly believe Apex and Firing line Burbank are totally different people. They might join now, but for sure they were different.

Yeah, the $150 course at Firing Line in Burbank was offered by ?Security Training Center?. Firing Line is just the place the trainers use. Look at the multiple companies that use FT3 or LAX Firing Range, it?s just a hub for them to teach their class. Even the range where my instructor taught at had a few other companies that did their training there for LASD. He just rented the bay for the class, had no affiliation with the range though.

I spoke to Martha earlier today. I have noticed list of documents for residency proof has been changed. Martha told me that ONLY LISTED documents (copy) on LAPD web site are accepted, nothing else. Please be careful and review your package.
She also told me that line now is about 4700 people. They are completely overwhelmed!

I think Apex, Scott Druyun, is not using Burbank firing line.

Yeah, when I called in May, they were only 1200 people behind; now they’re closing in on 2000. Just saw that they want you to do your training after they say you’re approved. Can’t streamline it and do it before anymore like LAKA90034 did.

Lol yes, I see that. Regardless of where Apex does their training now, the form clearly states it is done at 1060 N Lake St, Burbank i.e., Firing Line. Just like the previous comment mentioned.

You can refute peoples comments all you want, they are simply reading what is on the form.

What can stop you do it before you got approval? I know people who was told during interview that they are Ok to do without wait for approval. We pay our money and we can do training every day. Training is good for a year at list.
I think LAPD can not tell you go ahead do it before approval and later if you do not get approved-you will demand your training money back since they told you. I think it is more liability of financial responsibility than anything else.
Again nobody can stop you do training even without applying fot CCW.

Actually I found email which I got from LAPD where I asked how long cert for training valid-answer was up to two years. It is dated June 6th this year.

Updated guidelines has “AFTER” bolded and underlined. Was that always in there? I don’t remember seeing it before. I guess you could do your training beforehand, but I wonder if they will make you go again if the cert date is before approval date?

Couple members reported here-did before approval-no issues. If it is recent and from approved vendor-what is possible issue?

This email I sent 2 days ago and got respond from CCW unit. Little bit contradict to what I got on phone conversation.

Good evening,

Yes, your appt is on October XXrd at 8am.
Yes, what you stated are still considered forms of proof of residency.
Yes, we have received your live scan results.

Respectfully,

The LAPD CCW Processing Unit

Hello to whom it will concern.
My name is Eduard , my phone number is 818-XXX-XXXX.
I have couple questions to verify for my upcoming interview.
I have interview scheduled soon and want to verify date and time. My interview is on October XXrd at 8:00 AM, is this correct?
Are bank statements, cell statements or any other utility bill still valid proof of residence?
I did live scan in end of May, as was directed by officer which called for interview. Can you tell me please if my live scan results are in file?
Thank you very much.
Eduard

If you have a clean background, there is no reason NOT to take the class and livescan before the interview.

It should be.
Again, I see only one reason they DO NOT advice to do training is-if they advice and somebody fail approval, that somebody will demand reimbursment from LAPD because they advised. Again, I have email stating that cert is good for up to two years.

It was always there.
Unless they've changed focus, I can't imagine there'd be an issue.

I don't know,if Apex and Security Training Ctr are the same, but I will say that there were many ....maybe 6 or 8 guys that were getting Guard Card tested/quals and recerts during our CCW class there at Firing Line with Security Training Ctr.

Maybe it's a matter of bookkeeping?
