Cool One badass shotgun .... Meet Oz!!!!

Greeting Gunners,

I was super excited about my recent shotgun build , and wanted some feedback from the cal gun community . I Built it for 3 gun and I have a match in a few weeks .

With that being said let me introduce you guys to "OZ" (vepr 12).
I know I know it's just a shotgun but I went 10/10 with slugs at 100 yards without a problem.

So check it out and please comment . Good , Bad, whatever just interested in feedback .

The last picture is a screen shot of a clip of the 100 yard target

Let me know if you guys are interested in the details, I have a long list and more pictures

Sorry if the picture is upside down, I don't know why it keeps uploading like that .

******** Thanks gunners I appreciate the views and comment **********

Wow 1000+ views thanks gunners I appreciate the interest!!!

I like it, would love to know how much it cost to build one similar to what you did.

Greeting gunner,

The shotgun and parts and some labor I'm around 2500. I did most of the work except for the trigger because it's a pound and a half pull.

Looks awesome, I wish I was smart enough to grab one before 1/17 ... Now I fear it is too late to do a semiauto AR style shotgun.

Looks sweet. It took $1500 on top of the base gun to get it there?

I wish I could upload a clip , with the long handrail which allow me to reach out further and the JTE break the recoil is very minimal .

Yes, it does look badass. Pump shotguns are my favorite.

And I did up a Rem 870 similar to that a couple of decades ago. 3-shot Choate mag extension, heat shield over the 20" barrel, Side-Saddle 6 shotshell carrier on the left side of the receiver, a Milt Sparks leather lace up 6 shotshell carrier on the buttstock, and a JFS 3-point assault carry sling, along with a Choate assault style pistol grip plastic stock and fore-end. Cool looking! I was ready for war!

Problem was, the damn thing weighed a ton, probably 12 pounds or more fully loaded. I am not an Army grunt, and did not even want to hump it around.

Fast forward a few years. The 870 now has a 2-shot mag extension, an 18-1/2" cylinder choke barrel, original wood furniture, and all of the extraneous crap is gone. Fully loaded, it weighs about 7.5 lbs.

Not as "tacticool" as my fantasy, but it works so much better for me.

Good luck with your battle weapon, sir!

Jim

The hand stop placement gave it away.

It reminds me of this video of the worlds fastest Russian-made semi auto shotgun (supposedly).

It's got some cool mods like a cross bolt safety. thumb release magazine button, magazines have been adapted for it speed, and a ambidextrous bolt handle...

Akexpat - the beauty about it is it's really lightweight. This one started as the thumb hole wooden stick version and weight in at just over 9 pounds. I believe Oz is under 8 pounds . I'll weigh it to confirm the numbers but people are surprised when they pick it up .

Fawndog - I'm working on reload drill but I've notice the MOLOT magazines seem to take better and insert smoother then the SGM magazines . My next upgrade is a magwell, so the results might change .

Sealocan- I can't currently but the shotgun can . I don't have enough trigger time behind it to run it like that . I have a great trigger in it with a 1 3/4 pull and an 1/16 of a inch to reset, she can fly . The long keymod hand rail let's me get on top of the recoil . But the compensator / break reduced the felt recoil , even with slugs . With birdshot it feels like a 22.

Nice build. You asked about 3 gun --in 3 gun you'll be at a disadvantage without chokes. I internally threaded my Saiga 12 for chokes, then silver soldered on a collar. The comp attaches to the collar. This way you get both internal chokes and a comp. If you use the Vepr choke adapters, the barrel gets too long.

VEPRs have magwells, you're going to get the competition one ? SGMs are priced right for run and gun though, 10 rounders are obnoxiously banana.

How did you change the stock, I hate the tubular one.

You're shotgun is beautiful, nicely done . I was think about running an External Chokes with the thread so I could also run a brake on it . What you're thoughts on them ?
