Recommend me a good Trigger Pull Gauge
currently looking at a Lyman 7832248 Electronic Trigger Pull on Amazon @ $40.00
anything better that is cheaper? anything better that might be a tad more expensive? looking for the best value - won't get a ton of usage, mostly periodic checking and hobby related thx

I just went with the basic Wheeler Engineering gauge after waffling around between that and a Digital gauge. Have tested in on my M&P Shield and full-size, AR, and Rem 700 and it seems to read consistently. As to accuracy, I have nothing to compare it to but it got good reviews in that regard.

I have the Lyman and a digital gauge has the advantage of doing the averages for you. You measure the pull 5-10 times and then do the average of the pulls. Mechanical gauge requires pencil/paper and probably a calculator, the electronic gauge requires a button push.

I have the RCBS version of the Wheeler type and the Lyman digital. The RCBS hasn't seen the light of day since I got the Lyman. You can actually check the calibration of the Lyman with a weight.
The trigger hook on the wheeler type isn't nearly long enough to use any kind of proper technique on most firearms I've tried it on and that's just for starters. I would trust the wheelers to be within about half a pound. Last edited by Paul_R; 01-18-2019 at 8:45 AM.. |
