I think that if anyone things this is enough training, they are sadly mistaken. This was not nearly enough training. As our instructor stated "he will never let anyone say that the sheriffs department taught them how to shoot" and this statement is very true, they will help you adjust slightly but nothing crazy.

Timeline of the day
0700 - Arrived and parked behind modular 32
0730 - Doors open and everyone lines up, you check in and give them your personal check for $100(if you don't have it they will let you turn it in at a later date but it is not advisable)
0800 - Class starts, we took 3 15 minute breaks, restrooms are nearby.
1145 - Break for lunch, 1 hour, meet back at range after. I ate lunch in the parking lot of the range.
1245 - Range time begins, they will let you know that all single gun CCW applicants should really go first as it makes things go faster to get them out of there, this was 100% accurate. Armorer will check guns functionality and compare serial numbers on your paper.
1315 to 1330 - Shooting begins. Shoot the gun you are most comfortable with first and save the one you have the biggest worry about for last as you will not feel as rushed because the lines are gone by this time.
1530 - Walked out of there a happy camper after qualifying with 3 guns. some people were able to leave as early as 1400 if they only had 1 gun.
What he said. I did exactly what you did yesterday and I was one of the lucky ones that went home at 2 o’clock after qualifying with 3 firearms.

Got my livescan results today, now I’m waiting for ccw office to call me for pickup, I’ll be out of town starting Wednesday next week for 2 weeks. They will hold it without issue correct?

From the RSO site;
All fees must be paid with a MONEY ORDER or CASHIER'S CHECK made payable to Riverside County Sheriff's Department or California State DOJ where specified.

Congrats on your approval!

Now is the time to apply! I called on 11/27 for an appointment. I got told I would be contacted soon with a date. I was contacted 11/28. Informed of all the stuff I already knew from reading the application process.

Deputy asked me how long it would take to assemble the application, I told him a month (since I needed the character letters still and assumed a 6 month wayt anyways). He then mumbled as he looked through December, mentioned it was 'pretty booked', then gave me a date first week of January.

He also made sure to mention "Put down defense of self, defense of family and defense of property as your good cause. And then you can add anything else you feel."

He really made it seem like they are lightening up on good cause requirements as Bianco promised. Fingers crossed.

Awsome been sharing the info with friends and family about how quick the process is now compared to a year ago. Who was the deputy who gave you the tips for good cause? Thanks

Default CCW fees

Confirming CCW fees.....
It looks like if it is a new application, both money orders/cashier checks for the $20.00 and $95.00 are made out to the Riverside County S.O.

But if it is a renewal, one of the payments is made out to the DOJ

Just curious because isn't part of the original $95.00 for the DOJ too?

Question is, will Bianco get rid of the (illegal) Character Letters?

Other than the 18-month wait time until my interview, the process went smoothly—until the Live ScanS. Yes, TWO Live Scans have been “lost” that I did at the Riv. Co. Sheriff’s Dept. Live Scan location. Their records show both were sent; DOJ just reconfirmed they haven’t received either one. I’m beyond frustrated.

May 2017 Called for appt; got May 2019
Sept 2018 Requested earlier date; interview moved to 10/1/18
10/1/18 Interview; had everything required completed and with me.
10/9/18 Live Scan 1
10/20/18 Ben Clark class and quals
10/31/18 Live Scan 2

The DOJ site still says: “applicant transaction not found” for both scans. My investigator is aware of the submission problems and said I can repeat the scan again. If I go elsewhere, I will have to pay the DOJ and rolling fees again.

Am I legally required to use one of the sheriff dept locations listed on the info sheet that came with the Request for Live Scan services application? Or can I use a private DOJ-certified Live Scan service at someplace like a UPS store?

You need to use a Sheriff location, because a private live scan location can’t authorize the full check required for ccw. It’s actually a 2 part check when done by the Sheriff’s dept and private locations can only do the first part. Your situation is certainly unique though.

Good to hear that news. Everyone had to be wondering if he would hold true to his word and it appears that he is.

Nice to have two conservative, pro-2A Republicans running for the same office in CA. We just don't see that very often nowadays. This development has also brought some new life to this quiet thread!

Full time frame

Early July 2018 - Call for interview, set up for June of 2019

Mid September 2018 - Call to see if any new spots have opened up, given a date of October 31st

October 31st - interview done

November 9th - Live scan started

November 17th - CCW Class and Qualifications

November 21st - Live scan completed and sent back

December 12th - Called to come pick up my card

Words of wisdom - Make sure all of the character letters are signed and make sure you triple check all of your documents prior to interview.
