Default Some good SHTF movies you can recommend?

Like all of us, I enjoy to be entertained. With that, what are some good SHTF or end time, armaghedon, survival, Hope-lost type movies you can recommend?

I like some of the classics:

“Red Dawn” (original)
“Escape from New York” with Kurt Russell
“The Road” with Viggo Mortensen;
“I am Legend” with Will Smith
“The Walking Dead” (of course!)
“A quiet place” with John Krasinski
“All is lost” with Robert Redford

...just to name a few. They don’t have to be “real,” but they have to be “real good.” Again, it’s for entertainment purposes only, even if anti gun libtard actors star in them.

Thanks for your recommendations.

10 Cloverfield Lane. It was different. Thought John Goodman did a good job.

^ I liked the movie The Road but it's much better as a book or audiobook. I think the audiobook is available free on YouTube as well.

" A Boy And His Dog " ... it's a short book they turned into a movie starring a teenage Don Johnson and a dog that could psychically talk to him in the post-apocalypse Wasteland. It's the only movie that I know of that's mainly focused on the anti-hero man looking for women for sex / rape with tons of violence that was given a PG-13 rating and the film producers had to go back and ask for a more adult rating.

It's also available on YouTube.... https://youtu.be/CyFC_rFobX8

But I'd recommend listening to the audio book there first and seeing how Hollywood did what they could to copy it....

https://youtu.be/WYIgDzWL2gc

Both the book and the movie have cool guns to check out, gratuitous violence and a psychic talking dog... What more could you ask for?

I'll also throw out the Book of Eli, but I imagine most people have seen that as it's more recent.

"28 Days Later" is incredible. Similar to "I am Legend" but scarier.

"The Survivalist" on Netflix was pretty good. The girl wasn't too bad either.

Edit: be advised, unnecessary phallic scenes.

Damnation Alley.
The Day After.
As some have of mentioned:
Tomorrow When The War Began-This one, movie kinda better than the book. The novels are for teens.
The Omega Man- the original book is the best but Heston did a great job.
Def-Con 4-Classic
Red Dawn- The original is classic.
10 Cloverfield Lane- I agree, Goodman did a hella of a job.
A Boy and His Dog- I agree, both book and movie.
Jericho- First season was decent, not so much afterwards.

"All is Lost" staring Robert Redford is a joke, VHF radio offshore when it should have been a SSB, patches a big hole in the hull with one layer of fiberglass cloth, right. The movie is a joke to anyone that has spent anytime at sea. I turned it off, absolutely stupid movie with no basis in reality. Redford must have been hard for money.

Not sure if this counts as SHTF, more horror (Mean Aliens "Greys" vs a few buddies that have a tiger by the tail) but I thought it was really good, very underrated movie and most people never heard of it. If you have not seen it, give it a go. Also there is a guy with lots of guns, walmart ammo cans and a make shift bunker, so most of you will be able to relate.

THE EDGE staring Anthony Hopkins (1997)

An intellectual billionaire and two lesser men struggle to band together and survive after getting stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with a blood-thirsty Kodiak Bear hunting them down.

Into The Forest is a good sleeper. It's about a father and 2 grown sisters who are living on the outskirts of town when the power grid goes down. Not a high budget film, but well done.

Not really SHTF, but temp.SHTF.
THE O.G. Zombie flick: Night of the Living Dead (1968) is in the public Domain, and on Youtube (and Hulu?), even the colorized version.
Best twist of it's day, at the end.

"Night of the Living Dead entered the public domain in the United States because the original theatrical distributor, the Walter Reade Organization, neglected to place a copyright indication on the prints.[76] In 1968..."

World Without End was mentioned previously.

Busts me up how the crew of the crashed space ship are kitted out with 1911 magazine pouches but are carrying .38s.

That's a very young Rod Taylor with the bazooka. Sc Fi standby Hugh Marlow is to his right (Earth v. Flying Saucers)
