Don't know much how laser engraving compares to traditional(?) so two questions:
1) Can it meet .003" depth, 1/16" minimum height (lettering)? 2) Could you engrave on a 12ga shotgun barrel? Last edited by vandal; 04-18-2019 at 10:45 AM.. |

At least on aluminum, it can get pretty deep. One of my engravings is 0.020" deep, and could be deeper by doing addition passes. On a 1911 paraord, the serration only appears to be 0.0175" deep. Assuming this is possible on steel... probably?
The tricky part would be giving it the serration "cuts" an angle, rather than a uniform depth trench. Gradient cuts (think long rectangles, one on top of another left justified, getting narrower with each pass) might do it but it might not look so great without finishing up with a file. |

Free bump for a great shop. Showed up for a FTF Private ammo transfer. The guys there were very accommodating. I will be back for retail transactions in the future.
