Default Yikes! SW Idaho property taxes

Just got our property tax bill in Boise- ours went up almost 17%, even with the Gov's one-time tax reduction. Without the tax reduction would have gone up over 28% .

Schools were the biggest chunk, with city a close second and then county.

Hope those of you in other parts of the state fared better.

Yeah, your property value went up. Ada county is about .75% tax rate. That hasn't changed

I'm paying .76% in Bonneville Co.

This is still more than $1000 less than the national average, and an order of magnitude better quality of life

Howie jumps to the defense again!

You probably should just let people believe Idaho sucks.

The OP is talking about Ada county. The rest of the state is NOT like Ada.....

But Idaho sucks. Too cold for people from San Diego. Best you look elsewhere

Hope those of you in other parts of the state fared better.

Schools (Building+Land), Utilities and Water (Gov) for the most part are already paid for.
Typically your increase is all for Labor ( Admin+Teachers ).

I would say its more inline with your Mayors Manifesto to "reset" Idaho in multicultural state.

Your Increase may be due to increased values, but do they decline due to popping of the housing bubble ?
No, Prop Tax do not cover corrections on the way down.

Usually better to have just a bit of knowledge prior to posting?

Or at least look somewhere other than here.

We're in Canyon county. Property tax on 2 improved acres and 17 agricultural acres increased ~ $20 and that's it. It's a one time credit from the budget surplus and may but probably will not be repeated. Our taxes increase yearly in a normal year, but not as crazy as California or especially, Texas.

As long as we're growing and harvesting hay, the ag land tax bill is $50 per acre.

He isn't defending, he is using facts. I own two houses, (Star/Eagle) and I see the tax increases. Both houses combined are cheaper than the house I have in Kalifornia. I pay $10k a year in property tax in Kalifornia. I only pay $8000 a year for both houses in Idaho and I don't even have the homeowners exemption.

No, Az also sucks. In fact every state other than Cal sucks!

The fine people of Cal should stay in their wonderful state so they can surf and ski in the same day, followed by paying homage to the Supreme Leader.

I'm in Canyon county and my property taxes actually went down slightly. There is a lot of construction in Canyon and I'm guessing this moderates increases in assessed value. I'm paying $5500 in property taxes, about the same as my place in CA, but only due to the effects of Prop. 13 having been in my former place for 25 years.

Nothing says “freedom” like being taxed every year for something you already own.

Ha ha haaaaaaa

Only free men own property and have the right to protect themselves.
Slaves don’t own property, they work the land for their Masters.
Now heads down and smile as you’re whipped with corrupt taxes on the Masters land that you temporarily tend in this life.
