Default Polymer lower

What are your thoughts on a polymer ar9 lower? EP armory is selling AR9 80% lowers for pretty cheap. I have been wanting to try to build a new AR and think 9mm would be fun. Just not sure about the polymer. Thoughts, experiences. Thanks in advance.

I would not trust it for a 9mm build, the recoil can be pretty harsh compared to a .223/5.56 rifle, and poly on .223/5.56 is iffy, I've seen too many cracked rear sections to trust a poly lower.

Now for a 22lr build, they are perfect

How would you legalize it? Must apply for serial number then embed 3.7 ounce stainless plate in it and assemble and apply for volreg. That ship sailed a year ago.

You can still build it and get a s/n as long as it is featureless right?

After you embed 3.7 ounces of stainless plate in polymer lower. And apply for serial number.Good luck with that.

It's cheaper to buy/DROS an aluminum 100% receiver than to go through the USNA process on an 80% reciever of any type.

This. Anderson's go on sale quite often for less than 40 bucks. Others a few bucks more. If it REALLY hits the fan, and you NEED it, who cares who knows you got it and whether it has a serial number or not.

And the holes are most likely the right size, and in the right places.

You can't even embed the plate.
The frame must be manufactured with the plate embedded in a way that will destroy the frame if it is removed.

Ya... the polymer 80 ship sailed long ago.
And people who LEGALLY built SSE 1.0 and SSE 2.0 AR pistols are getting visits from the DOJ and having them confiscated after attempting to legally register.

The 80% AR pistol ship sailed before anyone ever knew it was at the dock.
