Default 10-Round Mini-14 Mags?

I've been away for a while, but am coming back around again these days.

I've got an older stainless Mini-14 (184-series), and I'm looking for 10-round mags for it.

Back in 2016, I bought Ruger mags, but they wouldn't lock into place, making them useless. The 5-round Ruger mags work great.

The only other 10-round mags out there are ProMag, which people hate. I bought a pair, and they lock in place, but the floorplate bulges down like it's going to pop off at any moment. I haven't fired the rifle with them yet, so I don't know if they are (un)reliable yet.

Any other options out there? (Again, I haven't been too up on things, but I believe the 10-round max is back in effect, so 5-and 10-round mags are it, right?)

Ruger manufactures factory 10 round magazines for the mini 14 not sure why they would not work. My pops has a 186 series mini that they work fine with

Sometimes you need to file down the bottom of the locking tab to get them to fit. It doesn't take much so go a little at a time until they lock in.

Call Ruger customer service and they'll probably replace them.

Good advice, thanks. I'll try a couple more and see if they either work, or can be fettled to fit.

I already returned them a while back, having bought them from CTD. Since they didn't work, I didn't get charged any restocking fees.

ProMag 10 round mags work perfect in my 185 series. Locks in fine with 10 rounds. You can barely force 11 in the mag, with 11 it won't lock in with bolt closed, if that's the case bottom would bulge if forced in on closed bolt.

I have some factory Ruger 10 round magazines that work fine in my early 580 series.

There's a company out there called O.E. Magazines and they sell an "O.E. Ruger Magazine" in 10/20/30. I think they can be gotten at CDNN, when they have them.

CDNN didn't have OE magazines in stock, but they did have Ruger mags about $10 cheaper than I've seen elsewhere. I just bought a pair to see how they work this time around!

I have both the OE 10 and 20 round magazines. They work fine in my 185 series. If you ever see them for sale, snap them up.

I ended up tweaking my promags with a ball peen hammer due to the issues I had. I'm sure there's a BBQ grill out there made from the recycled metal.

All of mine for my 582 series are OG Ruger. Have not had any issues with locking. That's my 5's, 10's and my freedom mags.

I never bought any 10 rounders for mine based on reviews on various sites. During magapalooza I bought 20 rounders, because those got good reviews (as well as the 5 rounders getting good reviews).
