Default Which head space gauges and throat erosion gauges.

Folks,

For the 580 series Ruger Mini-14 rifles, any recommendations for head space gauges? Throat erosion?. I have 2 5.56 rifles and one in .223, a target model. Thanks, A2

I don't think headspace gauges are unique to a platform are they? Check out the catalog and jump down to page 9 where they mention the “Down and Dirty” Headspace Gauges. They don't have a 5.56 NATO but they do have a .223 Remington. $70 for a set of 3 (go, no go, and field).

It's hard to find no-go gauges for military cartridges. I've only found Go and Field.

A box of 20 go gauges costs about $5 depending on caliber. A piece of electrical tape on the back the of a Winchester white box (or tulammo) go gauge makes a no-go gauge, or so I've heard...

Default 20 go gauges for $5.00?

Where do you get go gauges for $0.25 each?

LOL.
Because ammo is so consistent in shoulder length.

And you have heard wrong.

Nothing like internet "legends"...Masking tape on a round of Tula ammo. Or even better: "Use a wooden dowel to drive out a .223 squib."

When it comes to useful answers you are about as useful as tits on a tomcat. If you do not know simply answer with "I DO Not know". Men have been using head space gages from the beginning, a few have become better than others. And then there are those that are socially difunctional, they are the ones that have never learned to ask 'HOW'.

A reloader that knows what they are doing does not need 3 gages, if he knew what he was doing he could modify a go-gage to measure from go-gage length to infinity. And then there is the field reject length gage, my favorite gage is a gage that is too long from the shoulder to the end of the cage to allow the bolt to close. What does that mean? All he has to do is understand the consept of '0' (ZERO).

The socially dysfunctional ones are the ones that refuse to tell HOW.
