That was for testing and shooting dozens of cartridges. The final rifle was 18 lbs and generated comparable recoil to .500 NE.

Regardless, I would never own one as last August I shlepped my 11 pound .500 NE 119 miles up and down hills etc. in 16 of days tracking in Africa. I can't imagine doing it with an 18 pound rifle. Oh yeah, can't afford $400K for one either.

I'm sure it would be reliable, however not only are you going to have to Piss-Ant that 18 lb. gun around, your gonna need a trailer to haul your balls around in, because you're gonna need those balls to touch off a round in that thing.

I read the story and that guy must have been knocked silly after firing as many rounds as he did in the Prototype.

Zero interest from me. I enjoy the 470s and the 450s. I could probably handle the 500 but the one at Butch's that I shot was set up for a right handed shooter with to short of a length of pull and slapped the crap out of me.

After my 6mm Dasher gets built I need to test it at longer ranges than that can be found around here.

If you wish, I can bring my .500 NE for you to shoot while testing the Dasher out there.

I haven't been shooting in 6 months. I'm closing on the new place in Kentucky on the first of July so we're prepping to move out there but let me know when you expect to get the Dasher done and we'll see about meeting up at the Cuyama range to try it out, if I'm still in town.

I haven't got cleared by my doctor to shoot yet but I see him on Tuesday.

I got all the parts in. However, the BAT machine action delivery is 9 months which puts it at December based on order date.

You'll have to give me a shout when you are cleared to shoot and are in the area and we'll go to a local range for you to shoot the .500 NE

I read that article last night also. I appreciate the passion for it and the art and skill in building them, but holy crap, the money put in to it just to have something unique blows my mind. Didn't it say that he had amassed 10,000+ rounds of NE ammo over the years as well? I guess everyone needs a hobby though!
