Default Volreg (non-AW) photo request pushback! Success!: post#11

So DOJ is requesting pics on at least some volreg firearms, but it looks like we may have a pushback option.

Member Mbdist posted this on 11/3 in post #134 in the "CFARS Self Built Firearm Applications Rejected" thread.

Good news, sent corrections on 9-28 and received my Approved letters today. No pics were provided; however they asked for them... I politely informed them there is no provision in the current Penal Code for that request... I was expecting some push back or an outright rejection letter but today is a good day...
I have PM'd him asking for the exact wording, but have not rec'd a response.

Have a couple of incomplete volregs where they are requesting pics. They are asking for pics of the two 80% folding AKs, but not the non-folding one.

I am in the same boat. I replied "I will not submit photos as there is no provision in the current Penal Code for that request".

We will see what happens....

I am getting objections that at least border on bad faith ... for example pictures that crop details clearly shown in other pictures submitted. Some say they just wanted names and addresses; sure seems to me they don't want applications at all!

This is what I sent: "Firearm serial number xxxxx This firearm is featureless and does not require photographs per current regulations. Please provide the memorandum authorizing your picture request or justification based on current policy. Thank You. "

Have not rec'd any response yet.

I submitted the end of June and haven't even received the initial email. Based on the responses, I'm expecting a photo request and a specific caliber request. I'm about out of time though. Seems like I should have heard something by now.

Success! Received "recorded" letters today for the two volregged rifles that they wanted photos for.

So they didnít push back when you asked them to cite the penal code requiring that.

Awesome! Nice job keeping that person in check

I successfully did a volreg on a Glock 80% pistol and did not need to submit any photos. I submitted my application before all deadlines.

I pushed back on my AR pistol volregs when they asked for photos. Wrote up a "Issue Log" and waited. After almost 2 weeks of no response I went ahead and sent pics of the receivers only. That was about 3 weeks ago. And they STILL haven't addressed my original "issue log".

No pushback for me or mbmist who was the first one to push back (that I know of).

No photos were requested on my AR pistols submitted before July 1. I received "recorded" letters for them over the weekend.

Any FMBUS firearm will require photos according to DOJ regs.

Was this before or after the July deadline?

Just had 5 of my self built rifles pushed back. They are asking for pictures and category. I thought category was not required? There definitely is not an asterisk next to "category.

I received all six letters! Four that were originally accepted as they were entered into CFARS and the two that were sent back with a request for photos. After I politely commented that I would not send the photos, I received the letters.

Originally I did not know why they wanted pictures of two and not all four, but I discovered that I completed the forms differently for the two groups.

The four that were approved were self build firearms (pistols), frames only. The other two were built into complete pistols at the time I registered them, so I did not select frame only.

This is the message I received:

"Admin Comment History
  • On 11/26/2018 1128, Admin wrote: Please provide clear full-length pictures of both sides of the firearm, one close up of the serial number, magazine release, make and model. Upload these pictures to this transaction and resubmit for processing."

This was my reply:

"User Comment History
  • On 11/27/2018, you wrote: All builds are featureless and do not require photographs per current regulations. Please provide the memorandum authorizing your picture request or justification based on current policy, Thank You."
