Unfortunately, odds favor those who buy more tickets. I usually went for the sponsor package that included tickets to the high end tables. At our club, those were the red and blue tables that had multiple guns on them as well as high end scopes, etc. There were usually only a few tickets in those buckets as not many spent the money. I often won guns. A freak occurrence was when I played a game once, intending to go back and play some more to get more chances to win. When I went back, the game was sold out. My one ticket actually won the Kimber Longmaster .22-250. I have won at least 5 guns at FNRA dinners.

Like anything else, you have to play to win.

I won't attend FNRA dinners anymore. We bought a entire table last time and when they drew guns for the sponsor tables, the winner was not to be found and there wasn't a contact number on the ticket. We all thought they would draw another ticket by the end of the dinner. NOPE! They announced, "One Draw", "One Ticket" and if it wasn't claimed during the dinner, that the guns would be put into a drawing at a future dinner.

Hmmm. They don't do that at our dinners. If the ticket holder isn't there they draw another. I would let my opinion be known to the organizer, but I wouldn't not go. It's fun and a good cause whether I win or not.

That is the first time I have heard of that being done! I have seen them pull guns from raffles or lower the number of guns to be raffled off if the attendance is low or there are too few bids. It is fairly common to see them reduce the number of prizes on the high end tables if not enough people buy that level of sponsor package.

I am curious to know where the raffle you went to was held. If nothing else, to avoid it. We would not do that at our dinner.

Where? I've attended dozens of FNRA events all over SoCal and I've never seen anything like that.

Salinas NRA Dinner last Saturday was full. Great venue (Laguna Seca Raceway), great steaks, lots of fun. Getting ready for next year - unless California declares us all terrorists...

Keep your powder dry.

Done, Diner and $100 later, took home a beautiful Sauer 100 XT. Next year, more money on raffle tickets as lots of stuff(guns) that would fit in nicely at my house. Think I've finished buying for my kids, time to focus on future grandkids.

Same with me , 35 years and counting , plus I have won a gun the last 12 years straight at the FNRA dinners...

Some how there is a disconnect. I became a lifemember a couple of years ago, and never heard of the dinners or been connected with a local chapter.

Here is website to watch for local CA events. Better yet, pick another state and keep your cool stuff at your vacation home!

My streak ended at the last dinner. Was going for five in a row. I was giving them to my employees (if they didn't win one themselves) or donating them back to the cause. All the knives, mugs, coolers, and other cool stuff make great Christmas, Bday gifts for friends and family.

Still, the most important thing is helping the cause. Here in El Dorado County most of the proceeds go to youth marksmanship programs and the El Dorado County Explorers.

Next one is in March 2020!!.... If the state doesn't try to ban them like NYS tried.

I'm stockpiling $$ for 2020. Its not about guns or gear, but just a damn good time with (usually) good food and friends. If we don't support the cause we are going to lose.

I can understand why. As a life member I will not make additional donations until they become more accountable and restructure the management

Again, FNRA supports LOCAL activities. None of the $$$ from the dinners goes to the national organization. You're in Auburn, you should come to the next dinner in Placerville in March. It's the biggest event in NorCal. You will come away with a different point of view.

I just laser marked a batch of GEN III kits for FNRA. They have the second ammendment on one side and the FNRA logo and Mercan flag on the other side. You might see a couple there.

MY local gun shop, JUST became the new FFL of the local "Friends" circuit here in Pittsburgh. They were unloading all sorts of firearms for the raffles and giveaways today - stuff was stacked to the rafters!

If the attendance is decreasing around here, you couldn't tell it by the hardware they're still giving away.

We'll have two rifles and several G3 kits at the Foothills-Aburn FRNA on March 14 and at least two more at Placerville in April.
