Default Firearms policy coalition?

Interested to hear in order your lobbyist groups( for lack of a better term) that you would support. I recently donated to the firearms policy coalition and like what they stand for and the work they are doing. The NRA seems to have the power in DC but what about in CA?

NRA is the Big Dog in the fight nationally.

CRPA is same for Ca. And is the NRA affiliate here.

https://crpa.org/

BTW..............I'm a Life Member of both.

I'm not surprised that there IS such a thing... but this thread, is the first I've HEARD of them.

DOES reinforce the idea, that the NRA is THE B-I-G dog, in D.C. lobbying.

FPC is the only organization I've seen that has released videos of their attorney arguing our sides interest at the state capitol against anti gun bills.

Hard pass. I'll stick with the NRA and the CRPA. They're the Big Dogs in this fight for a reason.

Brandon took a hit to his contracting business during the recession. I met him as he was leaving ca to live with relatives. He was homeless with his wife and kids. Then all of the sudden fpc is created and he is the main employee. Hmmmm.

They are not initiating or subsidizing important and costly litigation.

If you need help deciding yes/no on GOA, think seriously about why GOA was, by far, Donald Babbett's go-to organization.

Scary as hell.

LOL our old buddy Babbett... says it all but my mind was already made up. I follow the money and look for actual results and making a difference... GOA falls flat on its face by that measure every time I have actually read the 'accomplishments" on their website critically like an attorney would to see they do very little but ride the coattails of others.. and scream at the NRA.

The bellowing mode, on the screen or written, drives me up the wall. GOA is mainly hot air...all hat, no herd. I'd same about Hannity...not what he believes but how he reports it.

I'm surprised (and disappointed) there's no NRA-PVF (NRA Political Victory Fund), love in this thread.

The NRA-ILA is their lobbying arm, for pressuring politicians who are in office.

The NRA-PVF is their arm for getting politicians into office (i.e., winning elections). The better people in office, the less you have to pressure them to do the right things while they're there.

I will never donate again to the FPC. No communication, thank you or follow up. Simply give money. NRA, Calguns, and CRPA are the only three I donate to.

FPC is extremely unresponsive to emails but VERY relentless with emails soliciting for donations. I've made several donations to FPC over the last 2 years, none less than $25. I became a member 2 years ago. When I renewed earlier this year (after they relentlessly advertised that joining or renewing would get you their "old school" FPC patch that was being phased out) I never received the patch or ANYTHING confirming my renewal. I've emailed them twice and called them once. The guy I spoke to said to email them because there wasn't anything he could do. Both emails went unanswered and I've received no patch. So I don't even know if I'm still a member or not. Many of you may say wow it's just a patch. Well, you are right, it's just a patch. But after relentless, almost daily, emails asking for my money and not a single response to my emails that leaves a very bad taste in one's mouth. So I think I'm out as an FPC member. I'll join CRPA now. I'm already an NRA member.

Ok yeah, after reading your post i'm definitely not giving another dime to FPC. You basically described my experience with them; completely unresponsive. IF i'm a member still I will not renew. CRPA here I come.

I made a donation to FPC and in response received incessant over-the-top fundraising emails. I added them to my spam list because there isn’t an unsubscribe link on their emails.

CRPA is important in CA, way more than FPC. Money given to CRPA and instructed to be used for litigation, will be used to fund litigation which is where the dollars need to go. CRPA, with money from NRA, is responsible for giving us the Duncan case which triggered Freedom Week. They work with the Michel & Associates firm, which has been doing gun law in California since pretty much forever. Google em.

FPC has done suits in CA, but they haven't achieved anything.

FPC = Brandon. Not effective use of your money. His conduct on calguns was repugnant.

Crpa has shown itself as capable of fighting the state. Not one other entity has come close. Not one....

Do you have a link to the videos of FPC? I want to see it.

I remember for last year bills, I’ve seen NRA and CRPA lobbyists speaking out. If I remember, I’ll look for the archived videos on the Legislature’s website.

When I see a Democratic politician mention FPC by name then they will be someone. So far no one mentions them. Only the NRA is mentioned by almost every Democrat in elected offices around the country. When FPC gets mentioned by said officials then they have peed in the cheerios of said politicians. The NRA pees in them all the time.

Yes the NRA has problems and hopefully the BK will help them reorganize get their crap together get rid of the toxic people that work there and get back into not just peeing politicians cheerios but taking a huge dump in them as well. I want to see now President Biden get bent out of shape when he will constantly mention them by name.

I became a member of FPC years ago. then they another email came to join again. I already paid for a year then they ask again.

I agree with the posters above that they are relentless in their donation emails.

I have not renewed with FPC either. I won't anytime soon. I do remember Brandon's rant and not posting here since then.

CRPA is the main group in California that's for sure. I think some people forget that.

People also forget the NRA's main focus is still on firearms safety, training and law enforcement support. The NRA-ILA is the legislative arm.

People in this thread say CRPA is the only group to support for 2nd Amendments rights in California, but isn’t the Miller v. Becerra lawsuit about assault weapons, which has a good chance of succeeding, by FPC? It seems FPC actually has done something about the unconstitutional assault weapon laws in California. What has CRPA done? Fail with Villanueva v. Becerra?

Sheepdawg.. go look at their tax form 990 that is listed in this forum.
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1528023

in 2016 they had $600,000 in salaries with $780,000 collected. You call that good use of money collected?

You are way off on FPC. < garbage

I'm not a big fan of FPC necessarily but there's a different issue you touch on.

What would be a good use of that money? That form shows that Brandon took in $135K - the rest of the salaries are for people doing things. I don't know how big they are but presumably that goes to cover the office, campaigns, legal etc. You want them spending that money on people. You want this to be enough of a business that someone like Brandon can quit his day job and go full time to advocate for 2A rights. That should be a good thing, not a "he's taking my money" thing. Focus on what they do and what they accomplish. FPC is far from the NRA level of money and corruption.

I’m looking at the 2016 990. I see 12 employees. I see that salaries were $192,516. I see that Brandon Combs was paid $36,563. And that matches other parts of the form in which the officers were paid $42,678, and other employees were paid $139,807.

I’m looking at the 2017 990. I see 15 employees. I see that salaries were $595,384. I see that Brandon Combs was paid $135,689. Officers were paid $143,006, and other employees were paid $362,340.

I’m not getting it. People are getting paid so that FPC can work. That’s a poor use of money?

Filing and winning said lawsuit is different. Also AW ban still in place regardless of what FPC does or does not do. CRPA as well AW ban still in place.

FPC files lots of lawsuits yet here we are with the crappy laws in place.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

Good thing you’re not in business for yourself. First of all a “for no profit” org, doesn’t make money. Employees are their lawyers and executives that run it. FPC is a litigation team. (That’s how you get laws overturned). They then have $180,00 for office supplies and filing fees. Lawyers aren’t free you know.

Laws may be the same now but in fairness, FPC’s existence is shorter in many cases than it takes to actually get the courts to overturn an existing law. So, really, you’re missing an important dynamic of simple timeframe. Pena took 11 years just to get to SCOTUS as an example.

Lololololo...

"Non- profit doesnt make money"

Uh....

So the " salaries and expenses" come from thin air? They base their salaries on how much money they get in. Spend all the money so there is non"profit". This is an old old tax scam. Are you new to the tax world? Why do you think there are websites dedicated to telling you how good a grade a non profit gets on how much money actually goes to helping besides " administrative costs".

FPC is a garbage scam.

As a business owner i know plenty. Sure people get paid and so do expenses but FPC does in fact have the court filings to show they actually do go after the government for gun laws.

FPC is garbage to you perhaps but then if thats the case, If Miller gives us a freedom week next month, You should be sending them a thank you letter and donation for being able to convert your AR into Free America configuration.

Whats your feeling on the bankruptcy with the NRA and the scams Wayne has perpetrated on its members?

You're assuming that I do not know that for a law to get overturned it requires a court case to do so. I believe you are sorely mistaken on that point. I don't have to post that to understand that point.

Yes I'm very aware it takes a very long time for cases to reach SCOTUS let alone be accepted by them. The same with dealing with the 9th.

They do what any pro 2A group does file lawsuits to show they are doing something.

Yes the deck is stacked against us. A bit better with Trump adding a few justices to the 9th. It's not so lopsided as it was before. Not a shoe in win at the 9th. We'll see next month what happens.
