Default is beretta neos a keeper?

first off iím not a californian so iím unsure if the beretta neos is even on-roster. that said this forum has a good crew so i will try my question.

i bought the lastest model (i.e. no recall needed) in 4.5Ē gently used and cheap a couple of years ago. after i discovered that the carbine kits are unobtainium i shot it, cleaned it and put it away. while the beretta neos is very well made, my favorite go-to 22lr pistol became the handier ruger sr22 (sadly off-roster i know). anyway i was looking over the neos with some other safe queens to sell on consignment until the flu lockdown hit. i coincidentally stumbled onto some inexpensive oem magazines on ebay and viewed some favorable utube reviews. so iíve now decided to possibly give my neos a second chance as a plinker once shooting ranges reopen.

any thoughts and opinions on your experiences with the beretta neos, besides its star trek looks? thanks!

Not on roster.

I have the 6" and added a front fiber optic.

Shoots well, easy to break down and reassemble.

My 6" might be a bit nose-heavy, but I like it.

I like my SR22 more for being just plain fun.

I've got a Colt Cadet, which is the same frame with a more traditional top end. The mag release is a bit of a PIA with a holster, other than that it's a pretty decent shooter.

If you need money, sell it. If you need room on the safe, sell it. Gun is not liked fruit can, it does not have expired date. Just hope that one day your heirs will appreciate it, let think how do you feel if your granny instead of threw away your grandpa's pistol and she decided to keep it and passed it to you, then you will have an 18xx revolver hand made by Samuel Colt hanging on your living room.
IMO, Beretta Neos and S&W 22A1 are good guns , they are the keepers, they are just fade away because of the new models coming out.

I shot a rental and did not like it. Grip and feeling around the trigger guard were uncomfortable. Ruger MK series is more comfortable in that price category.

I have one and have had several issues with it. Where the slide hits the stop it mushroomed up so the slide was hard to operate, I have the extractor pop out 2x. The sights adjustment screw backs itself out and still has to be sent in for the safety recall.

Shot one back at Jackson Arms as a rental. It was an okay shooter but got a lot of FTF's and a few FTE's. Wouldn't be fair to blame the Neos since a friend who worked there told me they would rarely clean them. Anyone familiar with 22 LR's should be aware they need a good cleaning, especially for anything semi-automatic.

thanks for comments all. my neos is from the most recent production batch, i.e. no need for recall and hopefully all bugs worked out. i am meticulous about cleaning firearms after every shooting range session. comparing my favorite and handier ruger sr22 to the neos, the former feels like the best of american mass production (in a good, non sarcastic way), while the neos feels more like a designer piece. i do like the heft of the neos and its easy fieldstripping. it needs shooting.
