Default A one in a million chance...

In 1986 I bought a Luxembourg FN-49 sniper without the proper scope.

In 2015 I found the correct Luxembourg marked scope. Only issue was the sunshade on the scope was a mis match. My scope was number #157 and the sunshade was #131.

Shortly there after I found the owner of scope #131, and discovered he had sunshade #157. We were supposed to trade sunshades, but at that time I lost track of him.

So the trade never happened.

Well today I was surfing Gunbroker and came across an auction where a Luxembourg FN-49 sniper had recently sold. I checked out the photos, and low and behold. It was the rifle with scope # 131 and sunshade #157!!

I messaged the seller who wasn't the guy I had contacted back in 2015. He put me in contact with the new owner and we are going to work out a trade of sunshades so we will both have matching numbers on our sniper scopes.

He, by chance lives in San Diego...

Don't yet know if he is a member here.

Amazing.. One in a million chance...

My scope and shade.

His scope and shade.

Sold an rmr cut glock 17 slide that matched my frame a few years ago since i found a good deal on a zev 34 slide.
Sold it to a guy i met at the range. I recently met up with some friends in the desert for some shooting.
One of them was zeroing an rmr on his 17 and low and behold it was the same slide from my original glock. Its funny how things circle back sometimes.
But congrats on finding those parts you must have some good karma.

That's crazy! I bet the other guy will also be happy to do the swap. How much time passed until you found it again?

Do you have any mismatched G43/K43 snipers?

My luck runs this way on them.

Great story, thanks for sharing it. I found my old Bultaco Motorcycle about ten years ago from my young days after about 25 years, laying in a fellas Garage corner in pieces. Restored and it it is my Garage now. Will not go into the whole story. But it was a strange few days of events that lead me to it again. I still had the Title to it.

Right at five years.

That would be my first choice.. The "middle" is Blythe... Or Quartzsite. Neither is a real good place.

The new owner doesn't have the rifle yet. He's still in his 10 day wait. So it may be a few weeks.

Default I don't credit your one in a million

Likely you do enough time on gunboards and auction houses to improve your chances of reuniting your scope with the proper shade.

Either way, congrats on never letting the dream die.

Your 131 sunshade looks pretty beat whereas the 157 sunshade looks pretty darn good.

Actually over the past few years haven't really been looking for C&R's. cleaning up the Egyptian sniper and posting about it is what caused me to look for info on FN-49 snipers. That led to the GB listing for the Luxembourg sniper.

Serendipity...

Better to be lucky than good, I always say...

Now I'm looking for a Argentine FN-49.... The addiction is strong. Never owned a Argentine...
