Default Fire + Ammunition = low danger (edited title)

I'm not in a fire zone, AFAIK, but I have friends who jokingly like to say that if my house was on fire, God help the firefighters who have to put it out.

Needless to say, a lot of us store a heft quantity of munitions, I have a lot of chemicals, too. I thought about putting my propane tanks and camping fuel in the hot tub/pool. After more searching, my ammo is going to burn up so I'll just dunk it in the hot tub (ammo cans will keep them kind of dry).

Edit: I know that ammo without a barrel will just pop off with very very little velocity. It's like getting hit by a pebble, if it even gets that far.
Santa Rosa:

Good video on minimal hazard.

Edit: There was a fire in Norcal over 10 years, fire chief said to let it burn. Also found this article: https://www.defensivecarry.com/forum...ouse-burn.html

Guess it really depends on how the fire fighters are trained.

Throw the china and expensive stuff in the pool along with ammo if you know it is going to burn.

There are youtube vids of entire pallets of ammo being set aflame, sure things cook off but frankly being near any house fire many things can be dangerous without some protective gear on.

It's not a big deal. Only a loaded gun could be a problem.

That's called "fire", not "explosion".

It's all part of the evil of guns program. Spread enough FUD about the dangers of burning ammo and the general public will have one more reason to hate/ban guns. The left doesn't care that it's proven to be not a danger it's a win-win for them gun owners look bad for storing ammo and the same gun owner loses all his guns when his house burns down.

The Mythbusters featured this years ago: Myth.

From my personal experience with the Thomas fire. All rounds were in a job box and some were withing ammo cans within the job box.
The ammo cans were significantly bulged out and the job box had many sizeable dents and was also bulged but looks like it kept all projectiles inside. However, I would not have wanted to be close to the ammo if it was not inside the job box as the dents tell me the projectiles had a fair amount of force behind them. They were not like pebbles being tossed around.

Edit- add link to pictures
If you want to see the job box and ammo inside go to post 7 of this thread.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ht=thomas+fire

You can see the dents and bulging in the job box and what the force was like in the ammo cans.

If your ammo cans fit in a hot tub, you don't have THAT much.
