The sheriff is probably about 1200 applications behind schedule after seven months. My guess is your permit modification is pretty far down on the priority list.

congrats to all those that got their permits!

this is getting really frustrating... i know some are still stuck in a much earlier stage than me... but I'm on like 3+ months after my LiveScan fully completed and nothing.

Multiple emails/calls to SCCO and they just say they haven't received. They should be requesting it from DOJ again if it was not received. :sigh:

Nudge them by saying if they haven?t received by a certain date, then you?re prepared to go do another Livescan again to help out. They?ll probably come back and tell you not to do that, but it ups the urgency

I?m still waiting for them to receive my Livescan results as well, despite having cleared the last portion in early August

Just got an email saying they had LEPS openings this Thursday/Friday. I signed up for Friday. Jeez, if it wasn't for this email I would have been waiting another 4-6 months.

Received notice my modification was approved.

Of course, they want you to call their CCW number that no one picks up.

Hopefully they?ll call back/email, or probably swing by the office and ask a clerk about it and see if they can call back.

Permitium, I sent in a 2nd application soon after the first as I noticed you were not to sign some pages except in front of an officer. That's when I listed the 3rd gun.

I did get a call the other day from the CCW department, of course I wasn't home. I did get through today, but the person was out for the day that called. Explained my situation to the person on the line, she said she has not heard of anyone with that problem. Was told to upload my information to them and call back tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed.

Pretty much this is exactly what they are doing. We will probably need more court-intervention before they cook up the Next Thing (tm).

That?s likely why the third firearm wasn?t added - that?s not the best way to add a firearm. Hope you sort it out soon!

Yeah, probably should of got a hold of someone at the time. Anyways good news. I was finally able to do a modification on Permitium's page. 1st was to fill out a short application, upload drivers license and pay fees. After that recieved an email link to finish the application. Uploaded Proficency, Cert of Completion, Utility Bill. Pressed entered around 11:30, successful transaction. Around 4:30 received an automatic call that my license was ready and to call to make an appointmnet to pick it up. Was busy at the time to do it. At around 5 got a live person wanting to schedule me in for my updated license!!! Miracles still happen. Going in Thursday to pick it up.

So with SB2 passed, is there a need or worry to wait until training courses are updated to match new requirements? Santa Clara’s existing requirements match SB2 closely, but there’s still some new class topics being added.

Theoretically, if you complete the existing training courses after October 1st and pass, and submit your record of completion - could they delay approval 90 days from there and make you re-start in 2024?

I doubt that they would sand bag long enough to cause you to redo the training. Even that seems a bit extreme for this office and this process

I would just proceed with training ASAP to try to beat the holidays

I?m expecting the key CCW dept players to disappear on some long vacations between Thanksgiving and New Years. I would advise trying to get everything you can done before then, if the ball is on your court.

Picked up modification today. Was told that offices were going to be remolded/rearranged, they just started to move stuff around on the 2 floors. I wouldn't be surprised if things slowed down a bit on processing. I can tell you that the gentleman who helped me was super nice and was glad to be processing CCW permits.

Keep trying their number. I had the same problem no one was picking up and mailbox was full. The following day made it a point to call on the hour starting at 9am, at 1pm someone answered .

Hang in there.

Lots of cities are now issuing - though they are likely going through teething issues. Eg. I applied to Sunnyvale at the same time as Santa Clara ,
I expect a permit "very soon". When I was doing the qualification shoot, I spoke to a chap who had a permit from Mountain View (he said it took a year).

FWIW while there have been a couple of annoying delays (LEPS lost the psych report for a couple of months), the folk at Sunnyvale have all been very good to deal with.

So for those that have not yet spent months investing in Santa Clara check out your city PD.

Sounds like a great stall tactic, delaying action until after the pending cases and new law move along.

Had no idea Sunnyvale finally started doing CCW's! Wow, thanks for this insight.

Last I checked earlier in the year (I think), they were still fwding people to Santa Clara County.

My livescan just cleared yesterday. Do you need to do anything before they reach out to you to give the OK on scheduling the classes or is it automatic? How long did it take for anyone who's already gone over this hurdle?

I was planning to go with Saber tactics, and they explicitly say you can't schedule classes without having approval. But has anyone scheduled it before getting the approval? I honestly don't mind paying the course fee with the slim chance that something can still go wrong during the application process and get denied.

I just made appointment to pickup my permit next week.

They started back in Feb I applied in late March - so just over 6 months,
some of the delay was out of their control. From the outset they have been very positive.

Wow!! That's amazing.

Can you describe your steps for us, please? No worries if you don't have the actual dates/timing.

Curious to know what they are vs. Santa Clara County, for instance.

Thank you!

Process is somewhat comparable. AFAIK Sunnyvale still do not have an officially published description of their policy or process.
They mentioned they will be moving to permitium in future, but at present it is all manual - but they are dealing with maybe a dozen applications vs 1000? for Santa Clara.

I only applied to Sunnyvale because someone here posted a link to a draft ccw policy late last year. I applied to both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara in October
2022. I got a call from Sunnyvale literally the next day, telling me that they were not yet ready to start processing, but would be very soon. My biggest concern was their plan to reach out to neighbors he assured me that there would be no mention of guns or what it was about.
Still not a big fan but as it turned out wasn't a big deal - appart from introducing a delay while they waited for anyone to respond/complain.

In early March heard they were ready and to please re-apply with 3 letters of reference - ick

I also eventually got notified by Santa Clara to re-apply via permitium.
I got that notification twice, so the original application did not go into the trash!

2023-03-28 Re-applied to both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara
Permitium gave me an interview appointment in September.

2023-04-12 fingerprinting done by Sunnyvale

The lady was very nice - the machine had trouble getting good read, hate to think how it goes with an uncooperative person

2023-04-27 initial interveriew to go over application
I mentioned that I'd already done a CCW class late last year (pre-requisit for CCW instructor class ;-) was told that would probably be good though they had not yet settled on how many hrs they needed - but would likely be 16 hrs. He also mentioned they were trying to meet the 90 deadline.

2023-07-07 I pinged to say DOJ had not yet cashed their check
got a call back same day that all was good, and that afternoon I got mail from LEPS to schedule pysch testing.

2023-07-19 was the test date, which was nearly a disaster due to incomplete pre-test paperwork. Sunnyvale was not yet integrated into their system, so I had to fill in a pdf etc.
I sent it several times but they kept telling me there was a signature missing - eventually I sent a screenshot showing my signature on the page and they accepted that.

2023-07-24 psych interview

a couple of weeks later I pinged Sunnyvale - they had still not received report from LEPS - it would eventually take 2 months!

2023-08-21 heard from Sunnyvale, they still had not received the report from LEPS but both parties were aware there was a problem and working on it. He said he would proceed as if all was good. Confirmed my previous training was ok so long as less than a year ago and 16 hours.

2023-09-08 did qualification shoot

2023-09-19 heard from Sunnyvale - they finally got report from LEPS and would be issuing a permit very soon - just teething problems with lamination process to work out.

2023-09-29 all good made appointment to pick up.

As I said earlier there were some annoying delays some just teething issues with a new process, but everyone I have dealt with at Sunnyvale was very nice, professional and keen to get the process going so no complaints.

Saber does not want you registering without approval to train
