HUGE typo in my Tulare County CCW permit
I was visiting a friend and his wife and the topic of our county's new plastic CCW card came up. They also have their CCWs (still in paper form) and are coming up for renewal. They asked to see my plastic version so I pulled it out to show them and upon putting it back into my wallet I noticed the expiration date was in four years, not two years!
There are three tiers of license fees and expiration dates to choose from: STANDARD $67.00 two years. JUDICIAL $89.00 three years RESERVE $111.00 four years I paid for the STANDARD two year license and have the word "STANDARD" on my card but with four years until expiration. My wife will be getting her renewal in a couple of weeks so I'll go in with her and bring this matter to their attention. The last thing I want is to be well beyond the two year expiration date and have to start the beginning process all over again. Does anyone else have this expiration date typo? |

How long has it taken for renewals for you fellas? I submitted my paperwork for standard CCW renewal 8 weeks ago and still have not heard from the SO. I checked in at the 4 week date and they said it was taking that long because only two officers can now ok permits. ???

Thanks for the info. The problem with that, of course, is that we are without a permit which we should have for several months. I think I'll drop by the SO this week and discuss it with whoever is in charge. I would hope that they could at least give me an extension on my old permit.

Please keep me posted on the status of your renewal. I am curious on the wait time for the renewal process. I am told that you can submit the application to renew 30 days prior to the expiration date on the permit.

My RENEWAL shortly after 2018 Thanksgiving took less than a month. |

Mine is a renewal. It will be 2 month this Tuesday. I think that they have been getting further and further behind since they changed to the new system. I've had my permit for 25 years and I never had a renewal take longer than half an hour without an appointment.

Just to finish this up, I went in to the sheriff's office last week and they gladly changed out the expiration date and issued me a new card. One of the women said to me, "You did the right thing".
