I just finished watching the series The Chosen; I thought it followed scripture accurately, while presenting a more 'contemporary' portrayal of 'life'.
Has anyone else seen it? https://www.angel.com/watch/the-chos...xoCiZMQAvD_BwE https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9471404/

Nope, haven't seen it, haven't heard of it. Might be good, I don't know.
Hollywood has a way of bastardizing the biblical truth though. For example, as good as the movie 10 Commandments was, it's not biblically accurate. For instance, Aaron was supposed to be the spokesperson for Moses when they go to the Pharaoh, but Moses goes alone in the movie. It is Aaron's staff that turns into a snake and swallows the magician's snake, but Aaron is missing. |

Aside from the classics (Ben Hur, Ten Commandments), it is the best faith based show ever produced. And the best presentation of Jesus you will ever get. Production values are great, as is the writing and acting.

You can pay to watch it, or you can watch it for free because of the studio's "Pay It Forward" option, whereby your donation will allow others to watch it for free. Kind of a contemporary take on Mark 16:15 "And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'" Watch a few trailers after this one (they are at the right side of the screen)

Just started watching Season one with my elderly mom who suffers from dementia. She and I love it! It humanizes the apostles and makes them relatable. They way Mary Magdelene is portrayed was believable as a women who suffered from sexual and psychological abuse. An outcast who Jesus saves her when she is trying to end her life.
I liked Erick Avari's portrayal of Nicodemus too. Amazing series so far and from what my brothers who watched it; they are loving it too. Highly recommend! |

If you have Roku, you can install Angel studios and it has the Chosen for free as well as a few other nice things for the kids.

I can?t back the show. Dallas Jenkins (creator of The Chosen) is a wishy-washy person who doesn?t seem to know the definition of what a true Christian actually is. Here?s some excerpts from Jordan Riley?s podcast of the concerns with the series?..
1. Dallas Jenkins owns 44% of The Chosen. The other 56% is owned by the Mormons. 2. Dallas Jenkins goes on podcasts and defends the LDS religion regularly. 3. Season 2-3 was shot on an exclusive LDS-only film stage/set in Utah. 4. VidAngel who distributes the series is owned exclusively by Mormons. Christian Pastors Voddie Bauchman and John MacArthur can?t back the series either, due to too many biblical errors with the show’s portrayal of the character playing Jesus, who says things that Jesus would never have said, because they are actual contradictions within the Bible. That?s a huge issue for me personally. https://youtu.be/xllQUpEveDs

Watch it for the entertainment because it is well done . . . not Biblical Accuracy. Too much LDS influence. If you want accuracy . . . read the Bible Straight Up!
Don't get offended, just my 2 cents worth. ![]()

If one cannot objectively and specifically call out the biblical errors, then the criticism is worthless. The above reasoning constitutes non sequiturs. They are neither logical nor biblical reasons for not watching the show. Too many object to the show based on their denomination's theology, and not the scriptures. They took creative license with plausible back storys, which isn't unbiblical. It is non-biblical, which is a separate category. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
