So, a DA revolver, large caliber, light(ish), with a hair trigger in SA mode... We have a winner in S&W 500 Magnum 5" barrel. That will make you a better shooter for sure.
All the guns in my list are full size metal guns with great triggers. I still shoot them all well until I go back to my Ruger LCR in 9mm. I can’t hit anything then.

I have a Ruger MK I which I had tricked out for competition back in the 70's. Basically it can't miss. I use it often when I take kids shooting to make their first experience all positive.

Thumbs up

Yep - Ruger Mk. series pistols make EVERYBODY an Olympic champion.

Tangfolio CZ clones will, too.

Red dots help people keep tighter groups, even with poor technique

Single Action - same thing

Smaller calibers help those that have flinching problems

Is that what the OP meant by “better shooter”?

Heavy steel guns with long sight radii makes it easier for me to shoot than my snub nose revolvers. No pocket gun is going to be easier for me to shoot than my Tac Sport

Agree with the above. I shoot 1911s, CZs, and revolvers in single action really well.

Have also shot buddies' Springfield XDs and Glocks pretty well, but they just don't feel right in my small girlie-mon hands.

For most of you, the guns that make you a better shooter than you are have light short trigger pulls so the gun goes off only 1/2 way thru your flinch instead of at the end of your flinch...

I shoot better with any decent pistols that have trigger pull 2# to 3.5# . If I shoot with $5000 Night Hawk 1911 with trigger pull 6# or Colt Python DA revolver then I am a lousy shooter. Here the list:
- CZ TS
- S&W Model 41
- Les Baer P2 1911
- HK USP Elite
- Ruger Mark II GTM 67/8
- Buckmark Lite 7"
- SAA revolver 7" 44SPL/Mag
- G-34
- SA 1911 Loaded 9mm

That.

Any gun with a light and short trigger pull will mask your anticipation. The one I have shot:

CZ TS variance
CZ SP-01 Cajunized
CZ SP-01 Accu Shadow
CZ SP-01 Shadow Orange
HK USP Expert
Sig P226 SAO
Sig P226 X5
Sig P226 Graygun trigger work.

Agreed but something about the P229 that just makes remarkably good groups in my hands. I have no explanation.

Smith & Wesson 4506. A real tack driver that I can shoot the center of the target out with, easily. Got a few free lunches because of it.

Any rifle, with the target set at 50 yards!

Nothing hones my tacticool skills better than posting the small groups I shot with a scoped rifle, fully supported, from a bench, at 50 yards.

And at the end of the day, no need to explain it! If it works, it works.

I always like to understand the 'why' behind things personally. Like why I shoot like crap with most Sigs and Berettas.

Out of all the "higher end" guns I have owned such as Wilson Combat 1911's, Sig X5's etc etc--- the one gun that right out of the box I was laughing out loud to myself at what I could hit the first time I took it out to the desert--

My stock Beretta 92, no mods.

I am not a great shot by any means -- but the first time I ever took that gun out after I bought it brand new 10 years ago I lined up 3 soda cans on top of a hill in the desert and walked back maybe 50 yards down the hill-- and shot them 1,2,3. Heck, I only got 2 of 3 with my AR on that day!!!

Liked it so much I bought a second one-- an Inox version years ago-- that I still have yet to shoot,.

So for me-- Beretta 92

My Wilson 1911 is amazing. After I load the mag it takes over; aims and the trigger goes off without me thinking about it. Bullseye!

My PX Storm (9mm) is also a wonderful shooter. It always finds the center of the target.

For some reason I shoot my S&W Model 29-2 with the 6 1/2" barrel noticeably better than any of my revolvers. I generally shoot my large revolvers in single action mode.
