Default Toilet tip for for newer CCW guys

When doing the sit-down in a public restroom, I want to make sure concealed stays concealed. No worries if you pocket carry, but not the case for the rest of us. I read about this tip sometime back, and it's worked great for me for years.

After unbuckling and before lowering pants all the way, take the waistband of underwear and pull it up, then over and down and over the gun, then when you lower all the way, it's not visible to nosey or freaky folks looking down there. Comando or G string guys need a better solution, but works great for me with boxer briefs.

Sorry if this is common knowledge, you're welcome if its not.

Good tip...

I carry a collapsible backpack with me when I'm out.

I can unload and store my gear in the pack while I do my business. ( I'm not a G-string guy, but I guess this work work for them. )

I suggest the first thing you do is close the toilet seat. Way to many people dropped their CCW into the toilet.

That being said since I use a QuikClip https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/h...b-holster.html
Holster I can easily unclip holster with gun in it and there is almost always somewhere in the john I can place it while I take care of business.

Keeps handgun accessible so I'm not caught with my pants down (figuratively)

No worry of it being seed or falling out of holster while I have my pants down (literally)

Just make sure you don't forget it in the John.

If your gun has a safety you can do this too.

Obviously please do not do this for guns with no safety.

It strikes me that if you don't already have at least a rough plan for things like this, perhaps you should reevaluate carrying in the first place.

^^ This happens a lot. Be very very careful if you do this.

I carry appendix, I place my weapon in the crotch of my dropped pants. Unless someone looks over the top of the stall they are not seeing the weapon and I can get to it if someone kicks in the stall door.

Why? The premise of this thread has nothing to do with carrying a gun for self-defense. It’s about dealing with the OP’s paranoia that someone might look under his stall door while he’s sitting on the toilet in a public restroom and finding out that he’s carrying a gun for self-defense.

I carry back at 4:30 so I just drop-trou in a way where my piece is stacked on my lowered laundry.

I also Appendix carry, and I just remove holster with weapon still in it, place it in the crotch of my pants. I don't want anybody seeing my weapon, or my fun gun.

You should not remove the gun from the holster. Never use the restroom in India.

Yes, this is one option. But, many times thieves "work" restrooms by reaching over the door while you are occupied, as many people will hang their jackets or man purses on those hooks. Especially at travel/event locations where there are lots of activity. It is a form of pick pocketing.

Dropping a Handgun in a Chemical Toilet is the wrong way to go about Bluing it.

Stop pushing your pants down to your ankles. Keep them up at your knees and your hip holster and gun won't be visible below the stall walls.

You might need to keep your knees out a little wider than normal to keep them up, or if you pull your feet back just a bit the waist/belt is also resting on your calves (if you aren't real skinny that is)

I hate public sheeters.
However, if I need to drop a 2 I put my g26 under my off hand arm pit and keep it there until launch is complete. Always kept in my personal control.
I've been doing it that way since I started carrying in the mid 80's. No matter the size gun, it works 100%.
*I also use 3 azz gaskets on the seat prior to launch, so... safety first. Some people are filthy animals and really poor shots.

Sent using a long string and 2 used soup cans

This too. Keep your pants off the nasty public toilet floor. :barf:

Seats covers are permeable, thus not much of a barrier. Regardless, I also use several.

Or you can adopt Idaho Senator Larry Craig's "Wide Stance" technique: https://toilet-guru.com/larry-craig.php

One can always squat, common in certain areas of Asia:

But of course, there are other risks associated with that approach:

I'm with Feurfrei. I've carried for over 30 years and this is the most secure way and the weapon is always available. Don't hang it on the hook on the door unless you want to see a full auto discharge!

Say it with me now - "Shoulder Holster" is the way to carry, if you are afraid of dropping your piece while using the toilet...

Don't know what all you guys are missing. If I need to be in this situation in public, I'm breaking out the cleaning kit and using the time to my advantage.

Although, I do get odd looks from people wondering why the restroom smells of Hoppe's.

Ha! Saying that is similar to left throwing out terms like hate or phobia when someone see things different than them. Whatever makes you feel better about yourself, carry on.

Exactly. Hasn't everyone seen in the movies where they kick open the stall door? Can never be too careful.

I kid you not. On one of my stints at Gun Site I found a handgun hanging like this when I went into the sheeter. Turned out it belonged to a female LEO there for training.

Point being, if you move the firearm off-body, be sure to recover it before leaving trhe stall.

If wearing only a T-Shirt then they should use a fanny pack, or a man purse (murse) to hold their CCW Weapon, if they cant retain their IWB Holstered firearm while on the throne...

In the summertime here on the North Coast, I tend to wear baggy Hawaiian shirts, so a shoulder holster works for me that way.

I am surprised that no one has suggested an ankle holster for the OP's using a public toilet and retaining their weapon issues!

Or use the time to cycle your rounds and practice clearing malfunctions. break wind to cover the sound of racking the slide.
