Ammo Bros was giving me BS about my FFL and wouldnt fax or send their license info to a out of state FFL. They are right near my work and was probably going to get a majority of my ammo there, but not anymore. so i went with

AKI Security Training
714.379.9115
Huntington beach

Jim was very nice and professional and is taking care of it for me now. $50 including dros

GRUNDMAN sports in Rio Dell, california WILL NOT transfer black guns. . . Bunch of sopping wet ****s they are over there. Just FYI.

Anyone who could point me to an FFL in Eureka or close by, who charges no more than $50 I would be eternally grateful.

Paul is still in business. . . doing transfers for a very reasonable rate BUT

No OLL's. . . SHAME on Paul as well, what is this country coming to?

Anyone know if Robert Snelling is still in business? Getting a 1919A4 and he seems to have great reviews.

Yup. Bob's still in business. Remember, he works only a couple of days/week 10-2pm. Might be on vacation. Might not be answering his phone due to volume of customers. Send him an email and he'll respond when he get's some time.

Any FFL near Alameda that will transfer OLL with a reasonable fee?

I use to use the place down in Fremont but now they charges $100 for the first lower and $65 for each additional one.

I have to Cavalry Arms polymer lowers on order and thinking about getting few from Anvil Arms with custom laser engraving. Also a Spring XD 45 comes from my buddy in Texas.

Default Thumbs down on Tunn Tavern for FFL transfer

Lee is an FFL (out of his home) in Manteca. Transfers by appointment. He's also a member, and regular volunteer for the monthly kids shoot at the Manteca Sportsmen. A nice guy all around.

Fees $25 for transfer + $25 for dros.
Might be a nice guy, but says he has to charge sales tax for a used private party item coming from out of state, which is total BS. Like I'm supposed to pay sales tax for stuff bought on eBay? Like I'm supposed to pay sales tax for stuff bought from Cabela's and Midway and LL Bean?

Only if the dealer is ordering the item for you, new, should sales tax apply. Otherwise, they're just putting the 'tax' in their pockets, or unnecessarily screwing the consumer and giving Kalifornia sales tax that they have no right to, nor expect. The LEECHES!

Not sales tax.
Use tax.

http://www.boe.ca.gov/sutax/faqusetax.htm

While nobody likes it, everything tangible you buy from out of state is still taxable.
New or used does not matter either.
If you go buy a used car, you pay sales tax through the DMV.
While the out-of-state vendors do not collect the sales-tax, the purchaser is still liable to pay the use-tax.

There is now a line on the CA tax form to report and pay use tax.

Just so we have this right...
You are accusing Tunn Tavern Arms of tax fraud right?

I tried to do it as much as I can, but I am NOT going to call them up periodically to figure out what's their current prices.

I am depending on members to PM me with the correct format what's the "latest" prices are.

This is a group effort for the community.

Toolfreak66: if you know of any, gather the info, format it in the right format, and PM me.

Ade's in Orange is now charging $60 for the transfer plus $25 for the DROS, which I think is a little steep. Steep? No, it's a friggin rip-off. I won't go there any more.

But PPT's are still only $35 (by law).

The Last Gun Shop in Napa charges $75 for a transfer + DROS. Said he'd transfer OLLs and that additional firearms on the same 4473 would be $10 (sounded like he might be negotiable on that cost as well).

Looks like we have two members volunteering to call around and find up to date information for this list.

Maybe in your spare time you can just google CA funs shops and one of you start at "A" and the other at "Z" and just call and call and document and document to update our list for all the other members.

Thanks for volunteering for this guys, much appreciated!

Everybody wants a handout and nobody wants to do the handing-out...

All you have to do is call the local burbank/glendale shops you see listed and ask the basic questions.
Then if the answers are different than you see posted, PM them to the guy that started this thread.

Its not that I don't want to be helpful. If I find a place that is not listed then I will post so that others can know where to transfer. Nor am I looking for a handout. It was the "Looks like we have two members volunteering to call around and find up to date information for this list" and "one of you start at "A" and the other at "Z" and just call and call" posts . Perhaps I read it wrong but it seemed a bit presumptuous and sarcastic when I read it in the early AM hence my response. I guess when you read/participate in enough threads you get tired of asking a question and getting the "use the search function" instead of a productive answer. That what this kind of felt like. However I could have just read the response wrong so don't jump on me too fast. I would like to think I am one of the good guys .

The legislature created a new racket with the DROS fees mess. I have a simple solution for this problem - a government mandated fee schedule!

The Federal Communications Commission ceased giving the tests for licensed ham operators about 20 years ago and turned this process over to regional American Radio Relay League affiliate clubs. The FEDs also dictate how much they can charge for these testing classes. The last I heard it's about $20 to fill out the paperwork! The new license comes in the mail about 2 weeks later. Violate the law and they take away the instructor's license too.

Rather strange that big government politicians haven't adopted the same kind of thinking about DROS in Sacramento. 20 bucks per gun or no license! Your anti-gun representatives would probably be shocked that gun dealers are charging more to fill out paperwork, than what they want for a cheap handgun. Such greed only encourages people to drop out of the system. Rip somebody off with fees; the DOJ closes your business...

Update. Pennington charges $65 per transfer. Not a bad price, but just an FYI to update spreadsheet.

Edit $75 for new customers

I was in Faith Armory on Tuesday (temecula), and they charge 40, for a transfer! I told them that I will be using them from now on. They just opened up small but very nice gun shop.
