Default Ground Squirrel Bait Station

Can you use them in CA?

I'm assuming no in CA with a firearm but what about Air Rifles.

Don't know the "rules" about that, but I used to do this up on the ranch:
Take a smile pile of fist-sized stones from the creek bed, and sprinkle horse feed pellets on top. Get back 100 yards; when more than a few squirrels are on the pile, use your .30-06 (or whatever you prefer) to shoot a rock in the middle of the pile. I've managed to get five kills with one shot; the stones explode, pests go flying.
