They impeached a private citizen (put aside who it was).

They can't or won't do __________. Great last words.
.
Because McConnel isn't a fool. What passed out of the Senate recently was cover for the Republicans to say they did something on gun control..we're done and there's no way we hold a vote on the House bill.

Politics.

Do NOT underestimate the ability of the republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This goes DOUBLE for those 'never Trumpers' / 'democrat lite' / 'rinos' et al whom have proven time and time again that they cannot be counted on to have a backbone when one is needed...

McConnel has been there a long time. So have many of the other repubs.

That was worked out so well.

We've (all of us) have been sold out by both sides. The dems and repubs are climbing up the same ladder, just on different sides with the dems on a higher rung. When they get too far ahead they slow down and pull the repugs up a few rungs to make it all look good.

Just what has gotten better over the last 30 years? The last 20? The last 10?

I'm sorry but without getting 80% or more of the repubs out and replaced with those who will take 4 or so years to be compromised, not much is going to change except the name plates for Speaker and little else.

So far the only branch that has remained even a shadow of what it should be is SCOTUS and just give that a little time.

The midterms will be a joke. Lots of hope poured into getting results. As soon as they take office it will be "the 2nd/A what? There is an election in two year and we have to win the Presidency or the country will collapse."

Its been the same for decades. McConnel isn't a fool, he's just fooled a lot of people. If Pelosi wasn't married he'd be in line asking for a date.

Default House Committee on Rules-1300 EDT / 27 Jul

The Committee on Rules will meet on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM EDT in H-313, The Capitol on the following measures:

H.R. 1808—Assault Weapons Ban of 2022
H.R. 2814—Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act of 2022

https://www.youtube.com/c/HouseRulesCommittee

Sounds like Nancy is trying to get this through before the August recess.

Default Contact your Reps and Senator’s

We need to contact our “representatives” and “senators” to tell them we will not be voting for them if they jump on board this freight train. It’s steaming full speed ahead. Excuse the metaphors, but they work.

US Capitol Switchboard is 202-224-3121

Find your representative: https://www.house.gov/representative...representative
Find your senator:
https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

I know you guys probably know who they are, but there are people from other states on here that might not know.

Not seeing anyplace else reporting this bill as "pulled" aside from this rando on the YouToobz. I'm guessing it is, at most, delayed while MaligNancy blackmails a few more votes.

Based on official bill status in Congress
These don’t indicate being pulled. As YouTubers claim

I just got an email from FPC:

Quote:
The Democrats just used a dirty trick to get the HR 1808 Pelosi gun ban on the floor of the House as soon as TOMORROW MORNING!

Just minutes ago, the House Rules Committee was called into session out of nowhere to reconsider the "assault weapons" ban.

And now, tomorrow (according to the Chairman), HR 1808 could be on the floor of the House as soon as 9 AM EST.

The Democrats could be within ONE VOTE of the support they need to pass their dreaded "assault weapons" ban.

if the ban happens, the current owners can add any features that they previously couldn't, to a AR or MP5 ( I am in Tx). I own an AR pistol with a brace, MP5 with a brace, and a regular ak47.

It'a what they do, they can't help it. This is why we should never let DemonRat politicians be elected to any office, ever. They are evil and they suck.

So, let’s say it passes. What impact would any lawsuits have on state assault weapons bans? If the 9th finds that assault weapons are protected, would the federal bill have any effect here?

They may be able to jam this out of the house but they probably cannot beat the filibuster in the Senate

Since this is a national law, the case can be filed in a more gun friendly circuit, right?

The kicker is we got the 5 Democrat Nays we needed to kill the bill, but 2 Republicans defected and 1 didn't vote...those 3 votes would have changed the outcome of the bill...3 votes.

Cornyn will not vote for it. He has said the AW ban is a non starter.

Unlike the last bill, which mainly dealt with preventing criminals from getting guns, this bill infringes on law abiding citizens. It is a different story.
