Default M1891 Danish Navy Revolver

I spent the weekend cleaning some of my older revolvers. I always watch someone on you tube do it first. Just to re-familiarize myself with the procedure. One of my newer acquisitions is this M1891 Danish Navy revolver. I haven't had the chance to get it apart until now and unfortunately, there wasn't much information on the internet. I'm sharing some photos below for reference for anyone else that decides on a thorough cleaning.

To remove the handguard, you have to pull on the lanyard ring.

To remove the unit id discs, I couldn't find a spanner-type screwdriver big enough so I ground down some old pliers to fit the slots.

The revolver stripped as far as I can go. The remaining screws needed eyeglass kit sized screwdrivers and they were just too weak for the screws.

The hammer/trigger and internals back in place. Everything revolves around two axis pins. Very similar to other late 1800 European revolvers. And the Japanese Type 26.

With the cover plate attached. Slide the plate upward and a small button (at the bottom, rear trigger guard) holds it in place.

Completed revolver. Clean as a whistle!

Hardest part of the day was trying to figure out how to get the one piece grip off.
I got the idea for grinding the pliers after coming across a similar screw on a MAS 49/56. The slots were so wide, so far apart, that none of my regular tools worked. So I took one of my widest slotted screw drivers and used a dremmel to make two prongs far enough apart to disassemble the MAS screw. The Danish revolver unit screws were unfortunately farther apart hence the new freshly ground pliers.
One last note, all of the Danish slotted screws have very narrow slots. Had to use my thinnest slotted screw drivers.

That is absolutely awesome - !

Great work - the ground down pliers is a genius idea, now you can strip down those old bayonets that use that funky set-up!

Love these old revolvers, Camelot Delvigne and all, they definitely had a sense of class to them.

Thanks for posting!
