Scratch the RSO's on that NRA program above, seems its only for Instructors and Coaches.

I am refering to the one that normally takes place around March and April. That would be SS7S 8.0. I have attended SSZS 6.0 & 7.0

Yeah I figured that out after nonosrcng corrected me on the 7.5 vice 8.0.
Sorry about that.

Haven't yet seen anything about the 8.0 SSZS though my artist is working on that T shirt design also, a twofer.

I know you're excited to get planning on 8.0, but let's get 7.5 off the ground first.

I'm sure there will be a thread sometime in the beginning of the year for planning 8.0

In the meantime:
  • We still need more RSOs - if you're planning on getting certified in the coming weeks, please post up.
-You'll carry a radio, wear a hi-viz vest, and be expected to help inspect/clear the line during cease-fires. The more RSOs we have, the faster we can do changes.
  • EMTs/Medics/RNs/Physicians - If you're willing to help out in the event of a medical emergency, please post-up and PM me. We've never had an emergency where we needed more than a bandaid, but it will be good to have some help.
-You'll also carry a radio, i'll have a medical vest for you, and you may be called in for boo-boos.
  • Firewood - The more the better. Last year we were able to get donated a 1/4 chord of wood for use during the zombie movie. If you've got extra, or know of someone looking to get rid of a bunch of scrap wood, post-up.
  • Extra EZups for the bbq area - last year it was hot under the sun during the bbq. If you have a extra EZup, please bring it with you (mark your name/info on it)
  • BBQ stuff to share - we'll be having the potluck BBQ on Saturday - please bring something to share if you're able. Can't go wrong with a case of water and a pack of dogs/burgers & buns
  • Everyone should bring trash bags - pack it in, pack it out. *** Unlike last year, there is not currently any planned trash collection.
  • Still taking suggestions for the Zombie movie on Sat night
  • Port'o'potty fund is up and running - please PM the AndrewMendez for info on where to donate via paypal.

We're about 8 weeks out -

Here now or atleast real real close they are laying rocks over the trails alrhough there are other ways up but blm didn't like me parked up there so I moved. Was first time I had seen one here in 15 years.

Noticed a lot of rocks over other trails too. The last 1/2 mile is real soft but has been for a while. And there's a new area showing erosion but won't be an issue unless it really pours still enough room to go around. I'll take pics in morning on way out.

Yes there's still room I took it thru my mirror but this one is in a new spot. It's where the giant mud puddle forms at. Will not be an issue unless there's flash floods that can wash it out. I got more pics will post when I get home.

This is the one close to entrance I mentioned it was soft as I stood near the edge of it but there were some rocks stacked on it too to help out. This wasn't there last April when I went last. I was parked as far as I could get from it.

How was the road as you got closer to the site? Was it still deep with soft loose gravel?

The last 1/2 mile before the last fork to to turn it it got soft especially thru the canon part i started getting wheel hop in my truck and went to 4wd which i have never done. But if i was in an empty truck i could have used speed to get over it too.

Momentum you will have no issue if you slow you will be stuck if not 4wd.i got another pic of that area too will post tomorrow. If it gets wet it will help a ton thats for sure. But i have never seen it this soft as this trip.It felt more gravely vs sand this time.

But besides that the weather was great temps were cool could have used a lil less wind but glad we brought wood for a fire last night.Big difference in weather since i last went to a sszs a few years ago on the same weekend.

Just crazy to see how BLM placed rocks and blocking alot of trails they even had rocks placed on small hillside berms where a quad or bike would use as berm but there were a few trails that led up to the spot too easiest one got tricky with my truck and camper it felt top heavy for sure and scarier coming down.

If I make it and my buddy make it, we'll have semi unloaded trucks that are good for helping if anyone were to get stuck. BYO straps though.

If you know how to drive soft stuff you will have no probs pedal down don't stop til past. Panic thinking your gonna get stuck you will get stuck. In last minute instructions this should be addressed it wasn't bumpy just soft no need to slow if you don't have to.

My next trip is October and can report then too things may change depending on weather a lil rain is gonna help too much may hurt.

Here's the section that was the softest it was before the canyon. Notice the small dips that's wheel hop from others.

That's what it looked like at 7.0
I was there a week or 2 before the last one it was softer this time. I towed my toyhauler in and no need to put in 4wd with my camper I put into 4wd as soon as I felt wheel hop but j slso drive in slower with camper too. I know you guys said a couple got stuck last time but most made it thru fine too.

pin it to win it. 👍

The problem we'll have is the more it's traveled, the deeper the ruts will become and then the low profile vehicles will start having problems. I'll be heading in Thursday and will be available to pull people in
