Looks like a very nicely done facility. I wish we had something that nice within convenient driving distance here in Tuolumne County.

I'll be happy for you guys when it finally opens: You've waited long enough.

There are two private ranges near me: Mother Lode Gun Club and Angels Gun Club.

Mother Lode GC is quite expensive, and has a long wait list. Angels GC is open for new members, but the rifle and pistol ranges are somewhat primitive; their trap set up is excellent. Angels is not too expensive.

There are also some BLM areas where people shoot, but two of them are pretty trashed.

I plan to send a letter/ proposal to my county supes to see if there is a way for the county to create a public range. Most likely a long shot, but it's worth a try. There are lot of hunters and shooters up here who would appreciate a nice, and safe place to shoot.

Once I think this through a bit, I'll post here for input.

If I get to the Bay Area after USI opens, I'll partake in the rifle and pistol ranges. Should be fun!

I am dying to know when.
So my freind is freinds and coworker to someone who lives in our city and is on the board(I know its a stretch) but he assured me Sunday he would ask him in person Monday or Tuesday and ask if the thing is even opening up.
USI is the first range I ever went to and I freaking loved it, mainly because you would pay 15$ for the whole friggin day, I would literally shoot rifles go home cook qnd eat, drive back to shoot skeet and beat traffic home if it was a Friday.
Life was good when I was 22.

If the actions range opens and they have USPSA matches again l for sure go More. Richmond is about an hour each way for me.

I used to go to usi every Saturday or Sunday from 10-1, do rifle and handgun.

Action range has been open to Diablo members for Action Steel - I joined last August.

Bay point is full of gangbangers.
Its not like up to the late 80's when it was all ran by the Italians.
Its full of salva, mex, and you know the rest.
The bullets found at the church I bet came from a banger or the amons MC. But idk.

The Motherlode Gun Club limits itself to 800 members and does have a long waiting list. However, I have heard from several people that when one of the club big shots has a buddy who wants to join, they move them to the top of the waiting list.

French Flat (BLM land) near Jamestown is closed because it was trashed, and because a few lefties who lived within hearing distance complained about how the sound of gunshots was "deeply disturbing". They also complained that the lead was polluting New Melones Reservoir, which is BS. The phony lead pollution gambit is what got Chabot shut down.

The Cataract Quarry on Camp 9 Rd. is shut down due to being trashed, and because one of the local ranchers had a couple of cow critters shot. Plus some of the people who went there were really stupid and careless. Case in point - Summer 2018, we were coming up from a day of fishing on the river. As we go by the quarry mill site, a bunch of kids are down there drinking and yelling while some of their buddies were doing donuts in a truck and a jeep, while the passengers are hanging out the window shooting pistols into the air. Fuggin' idiots! Too, bad, because you could shoot out to almost 700 yds. in one spot.

I do hope that USI is fully operational soon.

Did anyone ever look for boolits in the neighborhood near the church, or in the surrounding area? At the time, it sounded fishy to me that lead was only found on the roof of the church.

Do you really think they care about investigating the real causes? It was a perfect opportunity to shut down a liberal hated gun range in CC County, and all related 2A activities. From what I heard the range management did not help either. Frankly, I am quite surprised it is supposed to re-open. I will believe it when I see it.

joepamjohn,

At the start of the year it looked like most everything was good to go except finishing the parking lot and installing the benches. It IS coming soon.

I heard while at a Diablo AP practice that it would have a soft opening for the first 3 days for members only, I had also heard that it would be next week which I doubt. But it should be around 2 weeks, of course.

I saw the shooting benches. They look to be made of formed steel in a long "C" shape with mats at each station. I didn't notice any dividers between stations yet, I hope there will be some. All else looks great!

I heard that they were planing on hanging screened dividers. Something about wanting to deflect flying brass but not wanting solid partitions because they would interfere with camera viewing. Said dividers would come sometime after opening???????

This is my gossip and I'm sticking to it. Your mileage and info may very...

They never had dividers. They used to have large screens that can be moved via hooks on each bench.

USI posted a RSO job opening on their Facebook page tonight. In the comments they again said they're awaiting final sign off and expect centerfire to be open "very very soon". If you don't have Facebook but want more details about the actual RSO job you can view it here.

Any news on opening date? Just renewed my DAP membership for a year. I was surprised it’s not a better deal to sign up for multiple years.

Hoping it opens whiten a few weeks.

you must have renewed your individual club membership as DAP doesn't sell memberships. Depending on what club you belong to, some do have multi year and lifetime memberships available.

Iím not sure what that means.

I went to Dap website and followed the only links for a membership. Did I do something wrong?

No I don't think you did anything wrong, I can't access the site currently but DAP is an offshoot of diablo rod and gun club. There is no official membership for DAP so I am guessing your membership is to the diablo rod and gun club.

USI is made up of several clubs, the members of the various clubs can shoot at DAP but DAP in and of itself is not a membership club.

OP, if needed, here is the Diablo Rod and Gun membership page:

https://diablorodandgun.com/memberships/

Was at the Action Steel range today. As I was driving out I saw that they were painting the Handicap spaces and striping the new range parking lot....

If you havent don'e the orientation class yet make sure you sign up to do it soon.
I was one of the instructors for the class and it books out months in advance. Since the range is currently not open it has been manageable, but as soon as the place opens expect to see the classes sold out for months as everyone want's to play.

I was one of the instructors for the class and it books out months in advance. Since the range is currently not open it has been manageable, but as soon as the place opens expect to see the classes sold out for months as everyone want's to play.
I def signed up with Diablo Rod and Gun, I'm an idiot. I was a member before the ranges closed and did IDPA and steel challenge. I just google DAP USI followed Diablo Rod and Gun's site.

As far as orientation and shooting matches when/if that happens, I should be good since I have before and have done a few USPSA at richmond? Hoping so.

Can't wait until this re-opens, I'll be there every saturday for sure.
