All you need for shooting in the rain are good waterproof wet/mud trail shoes and a gortex jacket. Good old Wrangle pants will do. Open the range already! Please! Pretty Please! With cherries on top!

Do you need to be a member to shoot at the range, when it eventually does open?

It ain't called the public rifle and pistol range for nothing!

No, membership just gets a discount there.

Went and played at the action pistol range for a bit today.
Many thanks to Concord club, and Diablo ap. It was nice to shoot center-fire pistol and carbine today. It's been so long.....
Dueling tree, spinning rack, plate rack, and poppers o my!
Public range is coming along. I hear the big hurdle is waiting for PGE to relocate some power. Not to mention the long wait after final inspection for permanent power.

Most of the time no, there may be some club only shoots like Diablo has after a club meeting or some other special event. Members shoot for a much reduced fee. At other clubs on center fire members shoot for $10 and non for $20.

I like shooting in the rain, mostly because i get sent home (paid) when it's raining, and it's like I'm getting paid to shoot..... Because I am!

Rain may come soon, but I still don’t mind shooting at an outdoor range just a short drive from my neck of the woods.

It would be cool if it was but alas it is just the sales / check in building on the public range.

It looks good! It sure has taken a very long time.

It looks like the action pistol range is the same, judging by what I can see of it in one of those photos. Has anything changed with it to mitigate rounds going over the hill?

Aside from the Coast Guard lighting the hillside on fire I seriously doubt any rounds ever leave the AP range.

More than likely if any rounds ever did leave the range (vs being planted there) it would have come from idiots on the standing portions of the range.

Probably from one of the club newsletters. The WC clubs monthly blast said the Novemember opening date has been pushed back. USI also appearently sold the rights to a “cell tower” on one of the hills, and has yet to receive funds.

This is all based off memory from previous months club emails. Anyone with more info feel free to correct.

Default Handguns at USI ?

Is USI range now open for handgun target practice?

Their web site mentions shotgun and rimfire ranges but I don't see references to handguns.

Web site suggests to check the "News" page for the latest updates. News page actually has a button for Rifle and Pistol waiver form. This all looks very promising.

Anybody in the know?

There are days it is open for Rimfire Handgun/Rifle for the time being. They have not reopened the range for Centerfire Handgun/Rifle as of yet.

There are 2 new bays down there. I will say after match directing nearly 50 matches down there I never DQ'ed anyone for putting a round over the hill. it just never happened with the way the stages were set up. you would have to purposely try to shoot over the hill to be able to do it.

Last word I heard was that the main delay will be getting PG&E to hook up power. Might be open to club members a bit early but public opening will probably not happen until after the first of Jan 2020.

The "2 weeks" goes way back
That was the time given that all of the off list lowers(OLL) would be confiscated by the doj and I thought the guys name was Iggy but I'm probably wrong with the name.
