Default Can't get the leaf spring out of Saiga rear sight

I've removed the rear sight on my Saiga Sporter AK rifle. I watched a video of how the leaf spring should be removed - pull it backwards a bit out of it's slot/shelf, then wiggle it out. But I can't get it out. I'm using needle nose pliers. I've tried doing it gently and tried it with lots of force, but it won't come loose. I'm doing this so I can install a Texas Weapon Systems Dog Leg Rail, which locks into and pivots at the rear sight mount area. Why won't the leaf spring come loose? Thanks for any help!

I have a little tool thingy for it now, but previously I used a screwdriver.

With the leaf straight up, put a flat blade screw driver in front of the leaf and push down on the front edge of the leaf. It will come right out. The leaf needs to be pushed down, and angled out.

Some people use a bolt or screw to push on the spring, and push it down with pliers

Try putting a pin punch in a drill press.
Adjust the table heigth so that you push the leaf down far enough to.wiggle out the sight .

Stand the sight blade straight up.
THEN push down on the little bit of the flat spring that is in front of the blade with a screwdriver or some sort of tool to give you more leverage than you get just pushing with a screwdriver.
While holding the spring down, push down on the blade and it should come out the back.

You need to be using some sort of tool to push down the flat spring separately from the sight blade.

Buy one of these if you need to do this job often:

Try putting a small punch in the divot on the spring and hit the punch with a hammer to slide it backwards.

Those little springs can get stuck. It just takes a bit more force.

I can't believe nobody actually read OP's question. He's already removed the rear sight and is trying remove the spring. I do it by grabbing it with pliers and just wiggling it around as I pull on it. Eventually it'll pop out.

A bit of heat. Maybe some rust in that. Be careful on the oil you put on that . The russian paint is wose than rustolum. Better finish is hightemp engine paint. Its stands up to oil

Screwdriver ontop of the spring and while holding the Screwdriver walk it with your other hand. Then go find your sight
