This dilemma is simple for ME! I want the simplicity of a double action revolver, reliability of a revolver, and the advantages of a semi-auto. I carry mostly glock pistols for these reasons. I have other style guns on my permit, including 1911's. The semi-auto is superior in my mind and training. No platform is perfect but to me it is hard to argue the reliability of my G27 and G23. They go bang every time.

Mostly a revolver due to weight, size, and comfort. J-frame 340 is hard to beat. Also benefits in point blank combat vs a semi-auto which needs space for slide reciprocation. Although if I was in a gunfight I would much rather have a Glock 19 with a standard capacity magazine vs a 5 shot J-Frame but concealed carrying a Glock 19 is horrible IMO.

Maaaan I love carrying the G19 concealed. In fact, when I retire real soon, I’m going to a Gloc 23 for EDC. But I carried a bigger Beretta 92FS for almost 20 years AIWB and before going to some different model Glocks after that. So I’m pretty used to carrying large guns concealed. I even carried an Hk USP 45 concealed for a while. Now I’m on year #33 and still carrying “BIG” and AIWB.

I still carry two spare mags with me everywhere I go as well. You just get used to it. I like a big grip when using a chainsaw, dirt bike, sledgehammer and…. A gun.

Because A small gun in a gun fight sucks.

They both have their place. Mainly semi auto but revolvers meet some very specific needs.
