This big boy lost his left antler last week and I've been out hunting it with no luck
![]() He lost his right antler two days ago and I found it yesterday. No ground shrinkage on this guy! The brow tine is 5" long and the G-3 is 9.75". The main beam is 23.5" long. ![]()

Yep, I try to get out in the woods every sunny day but it's been spitting rain off and on all day.
I just saw three coyotes walking along my fence line. By the time I got the 6.5x284 down they were already 550 yards away and disappeared under the neighbor's fence.

Yeah rule of thumb is if you find one, look real hard in the same area for the other.
Best place to find a pair clor together is in a bedding area. Sometimes they lose them both while bedded down. It's a big thing in the spring here. There are a couple of guys who drive around with trailers and buy antlers for resale. If want to know what the market for these are, check out your local pet store |

Only drawback is shed hunting in the west on wintering grounds drives the herd our of their feed and bedding while trying to survive winter.
Nice rack!

Shed hunting is a blast ! Paid for a New Mexico bull hunt shed hunting, my queenland heeler was good at it. After saying good bye to her I got a wire hair pup from Minnesota, the pups were raised with sheds as toys and rewards so was a breeze to train her. She is still shy of full elk antlers but sits next to them and whines until I pick them up.

When my dad and I were in the woods many years ago, we found a completely intact skull with both antlers. It was a big rack for whitetails in this area. The skull was completely clean of any organic material, so it must have been out there for a long time. It's weird that nobody else found it.
My dad did a nice job of mounting, then some bastids robbed my storage unit and stole it. |

Back in the '80s we would once in a while come across a shed blacktail shed in Calaveras County in California. On one trip I found one large two point on a trail and about 100 ft further on the same trail, kept them for years and some where in life's journey they disappeared. Another time I found a left side four point and looked all around the area close by couldn't connect with the mate. Its fun here and there but haven't done it other than just walking here and there looking for bucks. Anyone been to Railroad Flats or Glencoe ?
