Default AR15 Red Dot Sights and Astigmatism – How to Diagnose and What to Do

Thought some of you might find this helpful. The title says "AR15 Red Dot Sights..." but I think it's relevant to any red dot application.

My solution was to sell my Eotech and go to a prism optic (Vortex Spitfire)....all good now, lol.

Am holding off any possible Lasik surgery correction until after retirement in 1-3 years.

I have astigmatism, its much less of a problem when shooting outside and properly using the sight (looking through it, and shooting two eyes open)

Strangely enough, I find that typical red dots are absolutely horrid to use for me, and yet true laser holographic sights are fine. Vortex UH-1 I bought looks totally normal, eotech slightly worse but still far and away better than any red dot ever has.

Must vary a lot from person to person.
