Default Just picked up an Upper!

Had Karl build me a 5.56 upper for my Colt. Turned out awesome!
Yankee Hill upper; LBE upper kit, charging handle and BCG; Wilson Combat Stainless 16" barrel with 1 in 7 twist; Blaster muzzle brake; BMC low profile gas block with LBR stainless gas tube; Diamondhead 13.5" handguard...
He did a great job!

I sent my CZ 75b into Karl a few weeks ago. In 10 days and it was back in my hands. It shipped back and forth from the San Diego area to Karl via FedEx without incident.

Karl tightened up pre travel, post travel and the slack take up that comes after the reset on stock CZs. Also reduced trigger creep. Trigger pull was lightened on single (5# to 3.75#) and double action(10# to 8.75#). Feedramp was polished to an amazing chromelike finish.

So far I have about 200 rounds through it and am extremely pleased with the end results. Here is an example of 50 rounds of both slow fire and double and triple rapid shots at 7 yds. I know it's not the typical example of all of the other CalGunners here who would have all 50 shots through a dime size hole but for me it's a definite improvement. I should add that the gun ran perfectly using my own reloads - 124gr Xtreme RN over 4.4 grains WSF. Far from a hot load and everything so far has fed and cycled without any issues.

Thanks Karl!

It's a pleasure. I'm going to configure new CZ's this way so it will be a one stop shop. CZ 75, 97, P01, P06, etc. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Thanks for the post.

Default XD service & G19

Met with Karl a few weeks back about doing trigger work on my XD compact after reading all the great reviews. I was also really interested in the Glock 19 (with trigger job) he has advertised. After meeting with him, I decided to pick-up the G19 and add Trijicon HD night sights to both hand guns.

Honestly, money well spent on both. Literally transformed the XD. The trigger pull is much shorter and the break crisp and short on both. The G19 runs unbelievably well and accurate too. I can't say enough about the work he did. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to improve their firearms.

Thanks again Karl!

Had Karl do his trigger job on my S&W Shield. This was my first experience with him. Karl is a very nice and knowledgable guy, and handles himself very professionally. I got the pistol back in a little less than a week.

As for the Shield, it's as everyone else said. Trigger is smooth, short reset, less take-up, breaks lighter. All around a much more pleasant pistol to shoot. Cannot say enough of the quality of Karl's work.

Well I got my Shield back yesterday. I'm impressed, the trigger is 100% better. I really like the sights he put on he also polished the feed ramp.

Hope to take it out this weekend and try it out.

Super happy with Karl's communication and the fast turn around time.

Just received back my Ares SCR back from Karl.

It is such an improvement over the somewhat notorioulsy troubled stock trigger! Light and crisp, and the creep is gone. It's a very quality job, and I'm very happy with the work, the turn around time and the price.
Thanks Karl!

I'll post pics after I get a chance to run it hard, hopefully this week!

I would have to see it and get more details on issue. I can most likely find the problem but really need to see it, possibly shoot it.

Default CZ Craze

This is a new CZ SP01 that came in for a face-lift and trigger job. It's already a nice looking piece and I ran several rounds down range and put a couple tight groups together. Not thrilled with the factory trigger though. Allot of creep and unwanted pretravel and what I call reset backlash. Reset is kind of long and there is trigger travel backwards before hitting the (sear) wall. Triggers like this keep me in business to be honest. But when I'm done this will be one of the sweetest looking (transformation to come) and feeling triggers out there. Most spend $300-$400 on parts from after market brands, which is OK if you have the money to spend. But I find that even those parts need custom work to really "get there". What I'll do is "get there" using mostly the factory parts. I will custom fit a new disconnector, replace the firing pin return spring and firing pin stop pin. Everything else is factory modified to a sweet 3# SA and 6 1/2# DA without all the extra trigger travel. All CZ trigger jobs are $175 out the door!

Stay tuned and in about aweek from now, I'll reveal the changes.

I am fairly new to shooting so didn't know a whole lot about triggers and their importance. I figured all newer guns would have good enough triggers. That was until I got a Shield. I was really inaccurate with it. I did some research online and put in a Apex trigger. At first I was happy with it. Allowed me to shoot much better, but I had a couple accidental double taps at the range and considering it's my CCW I had some concerns. Then I saw this post and decided to give Karl a try. He spent a lot of time explaining triggers in general. He let me try couple examples of triggers on his guns and I compared them to couple of mine. He figured out exactly what was wrong with my setup on the Shield. I got them back this week (took about a week) and had a chance to shoot them today. Man, what a difference. I had him do a Glock 19 too. Both guns are so much better to shoot. The reset is nice and short and the trigger stops at the reset point unlike before I had to search for the reset. Just a millimeter or so of slack before the break, and the break is nice and crisp. On my Shield with Apex it wasn't crisp. It was more like a long pull and you couldn't really feel the break which is part of the reason for my accidental double taps, plus having to hunt for the reset point. I believe the return spring was the culprit of the unclear break with the Apex kit. It made the trigger pull lighter, but didn't give a clean break. Maybe Karl can explain better. Anyway he fixed it and this is how all gun triggers should be. I don't understand why guns don't come with triggers like this from the factory, but it is what it is and at least we have people like Karl to fix them. I have absolute confidence in his trigger work and I plan to use him for all my pistols that I decide to keep long term.

Default CZ SP01

Here's a classic CZ SP01 with a 5 pound creepy SA and 10 pound DA trigger. Not horrible and certainly a nice looking gun.

But after some elbow grease, a cerakoted Tarjac Green frame, an 85C ss trigger and a trigger job, it's a real nice piece. SA is a sweet 3 pounds and DA a smooth 6 pounds. And all that extra pretravel and backlash trigger travel is gone. The 85C trigger gives a shorter reach. Now this has a short reset and spot on accuracy. Love this thing!

Karl

I wanted to take a moment and say thanks for the awesome work you did on my CZ SP-01. I finally got a chance to try out the updates and I'm very pleased - my groupings are tighter for sure! For those of you on the fence or just thinking about a trigger upgrade - I can't recommend Karl's work highly enough. I was prepared to spend much more on aftermarket parts but Karl talked me through his process and what he could accomplish with the stock parts and minimal third party parts - the results are amazing and you don't have to wait months....!

We decided to do a full internal polish with the goal of removing unwanted creep and pre / post travel and a much needed shorter reset. Karl also added a custom fit new disconnector, replaced the firing pin return spring and installed Dawson FO sights. The SP-01 now has just over 3# SA and about 6# DA without all the CZ trigger play...sweet..!

Thanks again - Chris

I dropped off my VP9 and S&W Shield for Karl to lighten and smooth out the triggers a little. I'm hoping they'll turn out well.

I picked up my two pistols today. Wow Karl did a great job, especially on the Shield. The Shield trigger is just about perfect. Nice 3.75lb break, no roughness in the take-up, no over travel, short reset. The VP9 trigger is breaks at 3.5lbs. No roughness in the take-up. The feed ramps on both pistols were polished too. Now it's off to the range to test reliability. So far I'm very happy with the results and would definitely recommend Karl's trigger work.

Talking

Haha.

The gunsmith at a nearby gun shop told me he wouldn't do a trigger job on a Beretta since they will split the rails and be dangerous. No kidding.

I tried to explain that was 30 years ago during the sell-off.

So I will be visiting you with a handful of 92/96's and a few revolvers. I have found that trigger jobs are low cost wrt the results.

I like triggers that are mild, yet a trigger job makes any gun a better and more fun weapon.
Hell, I may even bring in my Saiga.

I shot the two pistols at the range today. No reliability issues with the lightened triggers. Smooth feeding and no failures to fire. I can definitely recommend Karl's work.

Karl has had my Springfield 1911 Long Beach Operator performing his magic while I've been on my honeymoon in Mexico... I am on my way home now and can't wait to pick it up! Will report back with how awesome it is after I shoot it. See you soon Karl!!

My first post at Calguns. I was recommended Karl by my personal shooting trainer. Karl did a terrific job to my new Glock 34. The infamous Glock pre-travel is now gone, and I enjoy the crispy trigger. My CZ75 SP-01 will have his trigger job as soon as getting out of DROS. Karl The Trigger Guy, highly recommended!
