I'd be hesitant to shoot it or bring it in the field. Beautiful presentation case too.

No matter how pretty/bootiful etc I shoot all of my artillery when hunting this or that critter. This one for deer, that one for antelope.

Those are from the push feed era, aren't they?

Cabela's has new production Super Grades, not as nice as the Ultra and no engraving afaik, but still very nice. Relative bargain at $1600-ish.

Impressive pedigree noted in the custom shop’s factory letter. With no iron sights and engraving where scope base(s) would mount it’s best suited for display, a fine collector’s piece and investment in my modest opinion. Personally, and having owned several Super Grades both pre and post ‘64, I prefer an ebony forend tip vs. a schnabel on them, but seeing as the stock is a sporter without a cheek piece riser the schnabel can be considered appropriate.

Nice! Too rich for my blood. BUT, if I got that, I'd shoot it! No doubt.
There's a couple of MLC'er's here who KNOW I'd shoot it. No safe queen's here.

No doubt brother. The more you/we spend on a gun the more I want to shoot it.

I don't have a safe queen and I know you don't either

Well!! Maybe my Mosin Nagant is kind of a safe queen....I just don't want to clean it after a day in the Mojave... What the Hec, I'll bring it out on our next trip, maybe the SKS too.

I've got to get a couple pics of those 2 ugly azz guns

Very pretty

Maybe slightly used?

"Like New with very little wear on the wood and finish. Some small spots of metal oxidation on the pistol grip cap, sling eyelets, and some of the the crevices between the stock and receiver. Clean rifled bore."

On a bolt rifle, what are the manufacturing techniques used to give it the featherweight designation?

In general featherweights have a slightly shorter barrel (usually 2 inches) and thinner barrel profile, and a slightly smaller/thinner stock. Winchester usual offerings where featherweight, sporters and super grades(lightest to heaviest).

All my walnut has dings and scratches. Just like in the old West. If you don't want that use plastic stocks.

I've done just that. I have a Model 70 that came in a very pretty walnut stock. That stock is stored in the closet, and I have pillar bedded the rifle in a synthetic stock. Much better for hunting IMO.
