Peter Grace,

A customer support staff member has replied to your support request, #532924 with the following response:

Due to the strict laws within your state and the fact that we do not deal with many of the C&R license eligible firearms we will only ship to a type 01 FFL at this time. I am not familiar with the DOJ's ruling on C&R's and we can not afford to risk our license on a shipment at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We hope this response has sufficiently answered your questions.

Thank you for the business,
Derek
Budsgunshop.com
Bud's is a bulk seller, highly discounted new guns. They are too busy to deal with all of the nuances of CA law.

They will not even ship off list modern pistols to an 01FFL in CA regardless if that pistol is being sold to an exempt individual i.e. LEO.

No "black rifles" either.

Don't waste time with Bud's if you're shopping for C&R's. There are better deals to be had elsewhere.

Becky and the people at EMF are great to deal with and the prices were excellent. If they have what you are looking for. Many thanks to Calguns and this post. I spent $630 less than retail on the four guns purchased.

what are the benefits of providing a copy to Midway or some of these places? Do they give discounts on product or is it just for reasons of expediency?

Discounts. It varies from 5% to sometimes 25%. I paid for my C&R license in one order to midway.

I found that the best discounts are at grafs.com. Midway is about the same as using one of the discount codes.

WOW... They confirmed, they do NOT have voicemail, and they do NOT do email, and in general they do NOT work on Fridays during the summer - as it's too hot? Anyway, they did say they now are again working on Friday's till 1pm EST; and they have no plans to add voicemail or email. So if you want to reliably contact them, call Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm EST. Oh, and yes - they did have my FFL I faxed to them on file from 3 months before; but I guess they don't contact people either. Seems like a rather odd way to do business, but I guess they get enough business to survive operating in this way.
I'm surprised you've had so many issues with Classic. They have been "good as gold", in my experience.

What is the best way to send out my C&R (and COE when I get it)???

Fax? Mail? Scan & E-mail?

Or does it depend on the actual vendor?

Also, besides a signed copy of the C&R/COE and cover letter, anything else I should send along with it? Like copy of my drivers license?

Thanks!

EDIT: If you use that .doc file with 60 something C&R vendors, please check the contact information before printing the letters or mailing your C&R to those vendors. I found several vendors (at least 9) where the address and/or phone numbers vary from what is currently posted online and what is in that .doc file! So there is chance your C&R may not reach its desired destination if the address is no longer valid.

I always snail mail mine in, I just find it easier than trying to figure out who needs the hard copy and who'll accept an email. Then, a couple weeks after I mail em out, I'll call if they haven't contacted me and just verify that they have it.

And definitely +1 to Classic Arms. I've done the bulk of my C&R shopping through them and they've always been great to but from. Their website used to be a little difficult to use but they've re-done it recently. Personally, I like to call in my order since I can verify that something is in stock.

Concering Bud's, one year ago this month I had ordered a Lyman Great Plains .50 cal. black powder rifle. I paid for it buy credit card. It was ready to be shipped. But, wait! They insisted that it had to go to an FFL/01 dealer. Not to my house. I cancelled the order and bought one from http://thegunworks.com/ Not a prolem. Sent to my house the next day. Nice folks there. So, screw Bud's for anything.

My midway account was setup quickly but looking through the website, all the prices that say "dealer price" are exactly the same as their normal prices!

Did you sign in? I get different prices when I sign in vs when I don't. Same thing at Graf and Brownell's.

This is the link I used for those who want to email their C&R in. It provides the website and the email address to contact.

http://www.ar15.com/mobile/topic.html?b=6&f=14&t=295487

I created an account at Brownelles. Emailed them 5 minutes later, and within 20 minutes I was contacted and my account was updated to show the discounted price. Love it.

Here's my recent experience:

J&G only accepts signed copies sent via snail mail. However they updated my account within 5 days or so of me mailing it. I then ordered my items no problem.

Classic Arms accepted my 03 via
email and I placed an order within one day.

Both places had comparable prices on the same items and provided excellent communication and tracking information.

I wonder why they do that. It says right on the document that copies are okay.
Old school. Century does the same thing.

As any moderately good marksmanship instructor will gladly inform you, anticipating recoil this way is a sure way to shoot like ****. The idea that a shotgun is simpler to operate than a fighting rifle or carbine is, to put it simply, wrong. Anyone who argues otherwise either A) does not know how to run a fighting rifle properly, or B) has not actually thought about what they’re preaching in a rational manner.

Great to know. Thanks!

So these dealer benefits - I signed up with Midway and noticed that the price of ammo went up when I was logged in as opposed to when I was logged out. A 16.29 box of x54r became $16.49 when I was logged in. what the hell
