SW Balloon Pop this Saturday
Hey Doc, what are you "shooting" for this time. April 10 is Sportsman's Warehouse annual Balloon Pop. Good luck to all.

Lots of people went last year. It's not like you have to wait for anything if you don't purchase a firearm. The % off is good thru out the store. I'll check for ammo but don't expect them to have any. They seldom do here in LV. I'll probably pick up a few bags of Camp Chef wood pellets and look around while Calamity goes shopping next door. If I were in CA, I wouldn't think of going. But here, I'd be surprise if 30 people show up. The few times I've been there when the doors open looking for ammo, there hasn't been more than five people.

In store Saturday. When checking out you find out what the percentage off you get from the balloon.

No CA license, can't buy anything good. Maybe some jerky? (Actually I'd love to get a small safe for my daughter, but I have to be within 20 minutes from work at all times)

Much appreciated, Charlie, but the one I want is out of stock in Henderson or LV anyway. It's the Browning Yukon 12 gun safe. If I were not working, I'd pick one up from Fairfield or Fresno! Too bad they do not ship to the store

Probably won't be anybody here at the store in Sheridan. I am tempted to swing in and buy a nice Weatherby rifle and take my chances. 25% off of a $2000 rifle would be sweet. It says you get an additional balloon if you have the credit card. I do (even though I don't use it).

Well I am glad I didn't drop $2K+ on that new Weatherby rifle. I only got 10% off. Bought some fishing gear.
The SW stores here in our area of the world are much smaller versions than say, the Rocklin or Stockton stores. Scaled down for sure. Still and all, there were probably 100 people in the store at any given time this morning. I had to wait in line 30 minutes to check out. |

The problem is you don’t know what discount you’d get until you check out, so whether you get 10% or 100% off, you are committed to your purchase. No adding allowed at the checkout line.
Of course you can over buy and return it for refund if you don’t like the discount, but that is kind of sly.

Not my experience. You bring your goods up to the register and plop gear onto counter. Pop a balloon, or two, and see your discount. If you don't like your results, walk. Or just leave out the big ticket item that you could only afford with a substantial discount. First time I did this, years ago, hit a big number % off. Nothing that good since, but always above 10%. If you are a Rewards member, second balloon. Gold balloons seemed to have a better deeper discount. First balloon was a meager 5% Kudos to the gal at register that had the technique down pat. Find the paper in the balloon pinch it at bottom, then pop balloon. No chasing the little strip of paper. Late in the day, there were balloons left for people that had waited in the queue, got a slip to reserve a balloon and waited to come back. I saw the line forming at 7:30AM and thought no way. Ran errands and line was around the block at 8:30 AM and a city police vehicle was on scene. Definitely not doing that. Then wandered by midday and no line. Popped through the front door and...balloons! People were in long lines at registers, but it was flowing. Less wait than a normal day at Costco. Got a few items desired, 30% combined discount, and the third time was worth the charm, I mean savings. In this case, early birds got the balloons, but this experienced procrastinator got his too. YMMV
