Default C&R Handguns from Out of State

What is the process for bringing into CA C&R handguns assuming the importer has an 03 and a COE?

Obviously most, if not all of these have fallen off of the “Not Unsafe List”.

Must go from out of state transferor to California dealer FFL. California FFL dealer transfers it to California C&R + COE buyer without ten day wait (if FFL dealer is familiar with the process).

Option 1.

The CA resident with the valid C&R 03-FFL, physically goes out-of-state, acquires a C&R handgun, and brings it back to CA.
Within 5 days of returning to CA, that person reports the C&R firearm to CA DOJ.

Option 2.

The CA resident orders the C&R handgun online and has it shipped to a CA FFL dealer.
The CA FFL dealer will then transfer the firearm to the CA resident.

If the CA resident has a valid C&R 03-FFL and valid COE, then they are exempt from the 10 day waiting period and the 1 in 30 day handgun wait.

C&R handguns are exempt from the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

Quiet is right, my response assumed that the C&R holder was not going to physically travel out of California.

Thanks folks. That’s pretty much how I remembered it.
