Default Utah non resident CCW

I recently got my CA CCW (Placer Co) and at the CCW class filled out the paperwork for a Utah non resident CCW. Has anyone else done this? If so, how long did it take to receive it.

Unless you need WA and NM, try AZ instead. One week turnaround and you can carry in NV just like Utah.

Utah was right near the 90 days when I did mine last year. AZ was a lot faster but still longer than ID.

Utah took a little over a month for me. I applied in January of this year.
They cashed the check on 1/23.
Permit issued on 2/21.
Received on 3/1.

I have both Utah and Arizona. Both were pretty quick.

Not to hijack... but what would be the next state to add?

Received mine today. Timeline below:

1/29/19 Mailed application
2/13/19 Cashed check
3/15/19 License issued
3/22/19 Received in mail

So, just under two months. Good for five years. Thank you Utah!

Utah's permit is recognized in WA but not NM. Arizona's permit is recognized in NM but not in WA.

Initial application fees for both Utah and Arizona are similar, but Utah's renewal fee is $15 while Arizona's renewal fee is $43.

I had AZ in hand exactly 1 week from the day I mailed the envelope. Now that is how it should be.

I read somewhere that you can apply for Utah LTC if you are from CA. My question is do you have to have a CA LTC or can you apply without a CA LTC. I live in the LA area and can't get a LTC. I'm traveling to Utah in the summer and would like to have a LTC if it's possible. Thanks

There are several states that offer non-resident LTC. Utah, Florida, and especially Arizona are all very popular choices. No CA CCW is required, and each have slightly different requirements but they are all quite simple.

You do not need a California permit to get the Utah permit. Depending on where you are located in LA County, I am teaching a Utah CCW class in Stanton on April 28.

You only need to get your home state's permit before getting the Utah permit if there is reciprocity. Otherwise, you can get it without it.
