Nice score! At $200 I'd buy a few!

I've owned 9 ACOGs at one point or another and used many more than that

Sometimes you do get lucky, my best score was a 8 year old TA31F in minty shape with killflash/NV filter/Larue mount with box and all for $463
Sounds about right! Guess it's going back eventually.

I know nothing of ACOGs.

Question: To someone whose life does not depend on having a REAL one, would it really matter if you got a fake?
Where do the fake ones (lets say a "decent quality" fake one) fall short?

For funsies at the range or even home defense (where you are maybe all of 20 feet max from some dude in your house) about all I'd need would be that I can see through it with a visible reticle when I needed it.

Like I said, don't know much about them other than that they are roughly cylindrical and you keep both eyes open when using them.

All the real ones I have, have the RAISED trijicon logo, welded seams on the top of the eye piece and a serial number stamped on the two places right where the eye piece and main body meet. They will also say the magnification 4x32 (etc) on the lens when you look through them in the black below the reticle.

I'm betting you got a clone with fiber optics illumination, fun house glass and pot metal construction.

Nobody spends $1100 on a new acog anymore. That’s 2001.

Acogs can be had from $789-982 bnib. If you want the link pm me. They are a vendor out of Florida.

Used market is $400-$800.

I have multiple ACOGs the tritium is cool but it's practically is questionable at best. Got rid of all my fiber optic versions too. Trijicon should just make a scope with no illumination for $400 and sell the crap out of it.

Whoops, it was a fake! eBay refunded me promptly. I did just buy a $110 Eotech off eBay though (which is what reminded me of this old post).

Customs can charge you the cost of the real version of a knockoff if you try and bring a fake with you.

I was going to bring a handful of very cheap, poor quality Montblanc counterfeits back from China as gag gifts, they were that bad, but I was not willing to risk the $2500 fine over a laugh.

actually, knockoffs are completely legal. you wouldn't have to claim the price of the real thing. it can look like the montblanc, but as long as there is no logos that say "montblanc" all legal.

this is why those top brands plaster their trademarked/copyright logos all over their items, cause they can't copyright the design of the actual item itself as it falls under "utility product" but they can make it obvious someone is using a knockoff since it can't legally have all those logos.

Anything from China is bad in that it's funding the PLA and undermining Intellectual Property rights around the world. China is working hard to undermine our economy and our defense capability, and trust me, if you think liberals are bad you really won't like living in a world dominated by China (I have no beef with Chinese people, just their government). Not preaching to or judging anyone here, just hoping my fellow Calgunners will do some research on the issues mentioned above. I'm a vet and worked in the defense industry for two decades and I'm no longer interested in supporting the team that my brothers-in-arms will probably be up against within the next 10 years. That said, it's almost impossible to avoid buying China Made products completely, but given a choice I buy American or from allied countries.
