Sent an email to them and got this reply:

Sorry I do not ship ammo to CA, its become an admin nightmare to do business in California since the state changed a bunch of laws about selling ammo there. I wish I could help, we had a lot of great clients in CA and I miss their business, however it would pretty much take a major restructuring of this business to take on doing business in CA and I am just not in a place where I can do that

Just wanted to give a thanks to Ammo Supply Warehouse, had a great experience ordering from them recently.

Order placed at 2030 on Monday with question in comments about how to submit 03FFL/COE. E-mail response 0340 Tuesday. Sent documents 0715 Tuesday. Shipping notification from UPS 1345 Tuesday. 1130 Wednesday (today) package arrived.

And that was their basic UPS ground shipping option. I don’t know if this was a fluke or what, but I couldn’t ask for better.

Just an addendum to my order post:

This order is the third in a row that was delivered a day late due to a “late trailer” status via UPS. I’m practically convinced that CADOJ is inspecting the manifests for ORM-D shipments and checking recipient status.

Too many times to be a coincidence. The shipment prior to this one had visibly been opened and resealed during transit, but on closer inspection nothing was missing.

Ya Sam is full of ****. Hes just too lazy to do some basic paperwork, or god forbid utilize some modern website utilities to allow uploading of documents.

It is shame sgammo doesn't want to work with CA customers

What exactly is entailed in "all the extra paperwork" that vendors need to fill out who refuse to ship guns or ammo to CA?

I asked my local FFL dealer who I do my transfers through and he said it's basically one extra form that takes maybe 3 minutes to complete.

Is it prejudice against CA? Is it drinking the media hype Koolaid? What is it that makes out of state vendors refuse to do business with CA?

if i had to guess, it would be that vendors have warehouses in CA, and shipping intrastate is a huge no-no.

The issue that caused SGAmmo to stop shipping to 03FFL/COE holders was ruined by people sending him forged documents trying to get over on him so he just said no more. At least that is what he told me in an email when I asked.

The ammo laws not only allow direct shipment to FFL03+COE holders, they also allow shipment to a designated FFL01 on behalf of the purchaser. In other posts, he noted that some buyers were falsifying documents.

Sam explained the impact over a year ago.

He should have dime out the sob(s). It's not that difficult to get legit COE and FFL03

Just to clarify - If the vendor does not appear on the list then they were never on board with supporting FFL03/COE holders. The dealers that are shown with strikethrough font were ones that at one time on board but have since changed policy.

SGAmmo just makes an excuse. For all the years, have people sent him an FFL01 forged document? or he has never experienced an FFL01 forged document?

but only FFL03/COE is a problem and FFL01 is not.

This is the same thing.

i was thinking about buying from able ammo so I sent them an email asking if they ship to 03 + COE. their response in email was

"Yes, we do. Thanks!"

so I guess add Able Ammo to the list, although I have not actually ordered from them yet.

Read post 742. The majority of screw ups Sam cited have nothing to do with falsified documents.

We will ship ammo to California if you yourself possess a COE or FFL or are shipping to someone with an FFL that will transfer it to you. We will also ship directly to you if you can provide an official law enforcement ID with matching driver's license.

"We are able to send you ammunition to California as you are an FFL holder. However, you would have to submit your FFL License with every order you place, you can only use your FFL for your own purchases as these sales would not be available for resale.

If you'd like to set up a dealer account, you'll have to contact our dealer sales department, at 803-724-6655, or at dealer.sales@palmettostatearmory.com

If you place your order under a dealer account it can save you more money since you're only allowed to go through yourself.

No, I did not order after reply, ended up going with Brownells. My initial contact with PSA included copy of 03 and COE.

PSA? I have to check myself. PSA has already been confirmed has been on the list for some time. So unless someone can show they have had issues ordering from them they will stay on the list for now.

So I included a note in the order comments that I had an 03FFL and COE and would submit once I got an order confirmation. The automated order confirmation e-mail says at the top:

If your order includes a firearm or requires additional documentation in order to ship such as an FFL or similar, please simply respond to this email with the necessary information and our staff will coordinate your item shipment. Got Questions? Call 941-549-8388 x 111 M-F from 9am-5pm EST.

I responded with my documents and I had my fedex tracking number later that day.
